Saber Interactive's third-person action-shooter, World War Z, was first announced in 2019 and released later the same year. World War Z's multiplayer shooter is defined through the impressive zombie horde onslaughts players must stave off, and many updates and enhancements have been announced concerning whether the game will appear on other systems.

Now, Saber has made an announcement during this weekend's IGN Expo, which reveals a first look at a new enhancement upgrade and expansion pack coming to World War Z. The World War Z expansion is a treat for players both new and old, since it will feature upgraded content from previous editions of the game and new content as part of the expansion.

World War Z has announced Aftermath, an expansion that is set to introduce new characters and mechanics alongside a general enhancement upgrade. World War Z: Aftermath will feature upgraded gameplay on next-generation systems with 4k 60ps, but the upgrade also adds many new features into the game. World War Z: Aftermath will reportedly feature a new melee combat system, a first-person-perspective mode, and cross-play across consoles and PC.

The melee combat mechanics introduced in World War Z: Aftermath appear diverse, utilizing a number of different weapons at the player's disposal. World War Z: Aftermath's cinematic trailer also debuts new maps as incoming from transmission feeds. The new maps available in World War Z: Aftermath include Rome, Vatican City, and Russia's Kamchatka peninsula. Further, the expansion is set to include story episode missions for World War Z: Aftermath in its new maps.
