World of Warcraft is adding a ton of new demon customization options to the Warlock class soon–but there's a catch. Though many World of Warcraft players are excited about these new options, they now seem to be coming at a cost few Warlock fans are ready to pay.

Recently, World of Warcraft began testing Patch 10.1.5, Fractures in Time, on the Public Test Realm. This patch promises to be a big deal for Warlock fans, as it unlocks the class for all World of Warcraft races and allows players to customize their demons at the Barbershop.

However, a recent build of the PTR introduced an unfortunate catch to this new feature. The Glyph of the Observer–a cosmetic that allows players to summon a floating eye demon instead of the hound-like felhunter–will not be supported with the new customization system. According to Blizzard, this change is being made to ensure all the Warlock's demons in World of Warcraft retain a similar silhouette so their function can be easily identified by other players.

This could spell doom for some other World of Warcraft glyphs for Warlocks as well. Many of the glyphs available to Warlocks simply reskin their demons, but some change them to different creatures altogether. If World of Warcraft wants to preserve the silhouettes of these demons, cosmetics like the Glyph of the Shivarra or the Glyph of the Wrathguard, which completely change the succubus and felguard demons respectively, may also be removed in the future.

World of Warcraft fans are not pleased by this development. In the past, Blizzard has used the preservation of silhouettes as an excuse to avoid adding certain cosmetic options. However, fans pointed out that Hunter pets have dozens of unique models they can tame in WoW, many of which have similar abilities even if they have different models and animations. These fans were hoping these new Warlock changes would add more options to demon customization–and the last thing they want is to have their current options taken away.

Luckily, this change is not live in World of Warcraft yet. Blizzard has reverted similar things in the past based on community feedback, so it is not too late for Warlock enthusiasts to make their opinions known on the forum. The rest of the Warlock customizations coming in Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 look good, so hopefully, World of Warcraft walks back this particular decision so players can have even more options to choose from in the future.
