While there is no date for the release of the highly anticipated 9.1.5 update, World of Warcraft is getting an enormous improvement in the meantime. Arriving to Island Expeditions, this major quality of life enhancement will make rare loot farming much more prosperous.

Island Expeditions were initially introduced to World of Warcraft in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, essentially as a way for players to earn the Azerite material; the substance being a form of currency within the game that allows players to empower specific equipment. Yet, with all things considered, the update was received negatively by the player base, as many criticized that Azerite gear has a lesser drop rate than other pieces of gear, so for players to get the most out of their class, they had to pay a growing fee to reset the traits.

But now, Blizzard is finally going to make the World of Warcraft grind less excruciating by implementing one small but massively instrumental feature. In response to a thread on the popular forum Wowhead, the video game developers announced it will implement solo queue features for players wishing to complete island expeditions. Not only will this make it possible to set sail on the voyages alone or with a party up to three, but farming for the elusive Azerite gear will now be much easier.

The primary advantage of being able to undertake expeditions alone is that any Azerite players' score on the island is all theirs, with no need to share. So for players who rack up quite a bit of the scarce currency, it can be used to purchase mounts and cosmetics directly or loot boxes for a chance at random items from the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Extra attractive loot and gear in the shape of "rare rewards" are also up for grabs to benefit players who complete these islands tasks.

However, for World of Warcraft clans thinking about returning to Island Expeditions to prepare for the update, they should note that each time a queue up forms, the island takes on a new characteristic to shake things up including:

  • Different creatures with different organizations with different amounts of Azerite
  • Chests and Azerite Nodes of all kinds.
  • Different quest givers.
  • Consumables and Shrines.
  • Every island has at least four start locations.
  • Caves, and ships.
  • Different weather effects.

In conclusion, 9.1.5 appears to be a convenience focused update so far, focusing on making gameplay as efficient as possible, with no changes to Shadowlands content officially announced. With that in mind, Blizzard also revealed last week that further customization choices for the allied races, as well as some new druid forms, will be available shortly for players.
