Despite being live for roughly 17 years, Blizzard Entertainment continues providing players with plenty to do inside World of Warcraft. Whether it is the various raids, dungeons, PvP arenas, world events, and more, there's always something for players to enjoy if they want to revisit the world of Azeroth. Blizzard is looking to keep the list fresh with its upcoming patch which may add some classic dungeons to its timewalking content pool.

Timewalking was first introduced in Warlords of Draenor and gives players the chance to experience classic dungeons for a limited time every week for players at level 50 and higher. The dungeons rotate randomly and players' power and gear is scaled down relative to the dungeon for a more challenging experience. Players can earn special loot, marked as timewarped gear, which then scales up to the player's level once outside the dungeon.

According to a report from WoWHead, nine new dungeons are going to be added to World of Warcraft's timewalking pool with Patch 9.1.5. The information was datamined from the patch, though it was not clear if the new dungeons would be added to the pool or replace any of the current timewalking dungeons. The returning dungeons include three from Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, one from Catacylsm, one from Warlords of Draenor, and one from Mists of Panderia.

Shadowlands Patch 9.1.5 is currently live inside World of Warcraft's public testing realm, but the full patch is not expected to go live in the full game until November 2021 at the earliest. The patch is set to include more allied race customization choices, removing the area of effect cap introduced at Shadowlands' launch, and streamlining the Covenant system. Additional changes include various balancing to player characters, classes, activites, and improving the game's accessibility.

However, the new timewalking dungeons are sure to be a welcome addition to the game. World of Warcraft's timewalking content embodies the phrase "what's old is new again," which is only reinforced given the lifespan of the game. Blizzard has roughly 17 years of content to pull from to keep the game fresh and balance out the new content that comes with each new expansion and world event updates.

The new dungeons may also help to asuage some players who were upset following the last timewalking hotfix in August 2021 which did away with an XP bonus bug. This was due to confusion over whether the bug was an actual exploit or not, which many players felt was not communicated clearly.
