World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is the eighth expansion that was released on November 23, 2020, on the 16th anniversary of the game. Along with new gameplay mechanics, the expansion introduced "Covenants" into World of Warcraft, which were similar to Legion's Class Orders. Players that sided with the Kyrian of Bastion may have an advantage of obtaining one of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' new mounts: The Sundancer Mount.

The Sundancer is described in the game as a "sun-dappled courser [who] gallops on lightbeams with carefree abandon." Its riding requirements are Apprentice (Ground) and Expert (Flying). Players can find it galloping in the sky near the southeastern edge of Bastion, but there are a series of steps that need to be followed in order to add it to the team.

Sundancer Mount Requirements

First, players will need to obtain a Skystrider Glider. Those looking to use a Goblin Glider instead will realize it's better to put in the effort of crafting the Skystrider Glider when they go to confront the Sundancer.

Kyrian players will automatically gain the blueprints to this craft once their Path of Ascension Building is raised to Rank 3 and complete the Kalisthene Trial on Wisdom.

The Skystrider Glider requires the following materials:

  • 6 Elysian Feathers (dropped by flying creatures such as Unsettled Etherwyrm)
  • 4 Champion’s Pelts (dropped by beasts such as Runestalker Runt)
  • 2 Nightforged Steel (dropped by Venthyr enemies)
  • 4 Calloused Bones (dropped by undead enemies in Maldraxxus)

If the player is not a Kyrian, then they can search at the auction house, or have someone make the Skystrider Glider for them. This process can take longer or quicker depending on the player's luck and money.

Locating the Sundancer

world of warcraft sundancer mount path

Make way to 60.0, 91.0 on the map, which is around the upper blue dot in the picture. Interact with the Ancient Memorial to get the Sunrider’s Blessing. Move to 61.3, 82.6, the lower blue dot in the picture, and players should see the Sunrider galloping nearby. If the Sunrider does not appear, players should wait about an hour for it to respawn.

If in a group, the player with the Skystrider Glider can head towards 61.3, 82.6 alone.

As the Sundancer gets near, jump off the cliff and activate the Skystrider Glider. Once on the horse, the player's character will start taking damage. They must continuously use the Soothe command that pops up once they've jumped on its back. When the Sundancer calms down, it will lead them back to 60.0, 91.0.

The Sundancer will then challenge the player to a fight. Players have 5 minutes until the buff from Skystrider Glider disappears. This fight is easier when in a group because the Sundancer is a powerful opponent. However, if the player has the right gear, they can take on the Sundancer alone. Once the Sundancer is at 10% health, it will concede defeat. If the player is lucky enough, they'll get the Sundancer - Item and be able to summon the Sundancer as a Mount.

This part of the task can be completed in a group as long as one party member has the Skystrider Glider. Having the Skystrider Glider will increase the chances of obtaining the Sundancer Mount since the drop rate is not 100%. If the player is assisting someone in getting the Mount and they do not have the Skystrider Glider, they have a lower chance of obtaining it. Therefore, the person who wants the Mount should be the one carrying the glider.
