After collecting 1,250 Soul Ash from Torghast and completing the Ashes of the Tower quest in World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion, players will gain access to a new quest called The Final Pieces. Ultimately, this quest will give fans the ability to craft their own pieces of Legendary Armor, but they will need to jump through a few hoops first. More specifically, World of Warcraft players must acquire one Rune Vessel, two different Missives, and a Runecarver Memory, and this guide is here to help.

To begin with Rune Vessels in Shadowlands, they function as the foundational items when crafting Legendary Armor, defining if the piece will be Cloth, Leather, Mail, or Plate  and determining what slot it will fill. To obtain these items, players should simply look to the Auction House, as Rune Vessels are created by Tailors, Leatherworkers, Blacksmiths, and Jewelcrafters, and here are the prefixes to search for:

  • Leather Rune Vessels: Umbrahide
  • Mail Rune Vessels: Boneshatter
  • Plate Rune Vessels & Necklace/Ring: Shadowghast

With respect to Missives in WoW, those items determine what secondary stats a piece of Legendary Armor will have, and there are four in total: the Missive of Critical Strike, the Missive of Haste, the Missive of Mastery, and the Missive of Versatility. As with Rune Vessels, Missives are made by crafters, and Inscription is the profession of interest this time around. To emphasize, players that are working on The Final Pieces quest will need to obtain two different Missives from a Scribe or the Auction House, as two of the same type will simply not do.

Finally, fans will need to find a Runecarver Memory, which take the form of Legendary recipes in Shadowlands. These Legendary recipes come from a variety of sources, such as bosses, reputation vendors, and beyond, and they are what World of Warcraft players will turn to when they are actually crafting their armor. After obtaining a Memory of the Runecarver Legendary recipe, fans can simply use the item from within their inventory while standing in front of the NPC to restore it.

With all of these items in hand, players are ready to visit the Runecarver and complete The Final Pieces quest in WoW. Notably, turning in the quest does not consume the requisite Rune Vessel or Missives, leaving them to be used in future Legendary Armor crafting. As such, players should be somewhat thoughtful when purchasing these items from Shadowlands crafters so that they end up with Vessels and Missives that are actually useful.
