World of Warcraft players may not have received an exact release date during yesterday's Shadowlands developer update, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an exciting day for MMO fans who are looking forward to the 2020 expansion to the iconic Blizzard MMO. The livestream event was jam-packed with new information about Shadowlands, including details on the upcoming shift from alpha to beta testing and viewers also got a first look at some gorgeous swag.

When World of Warcraft Shadowlands arrives in fall 2020, players will have the usual choice between physical edition, digital edition, physical collector's edition, and digital collector's edition. As Blizzard fans have come to expect, the physical collector's edition for World of Warcraft Shadowlands will have a $100+ price tag, but it will also contain a ton of items including a gorgeous art book, mouse pad, and lots of other little items.

This time around, the WoW expansion physical collector's edition will run players about $120 and pre-orders will go on sale starting next week. At this point, there is not a specific release date for the content, but the listing page confirms that the product will ship no later than December 31, 2020. Yesterday, the Blizzard team confirmed that the game is still aiming for a fall release, so hopefully that December date is just a late placeholder and the item will ship out well before the holiday season actually arrives.

As always, the Collector's Edition isn't going to be for everyone, but WoW fans who have a bookshelf display full of the big boxes they've collected over the years won't want to pass this one up. The price tag is right around what fans have seen in the past and shouldn't come as a big surprise. It will be very interesting to see what the demand is like and how quickly these physical collector editions sell out. For some expansions they have been very difficult to get a hold of, while others can still be purchased secondhand at a pretty affordable price.

Be sure to check back in the coming weeks as more details about Shadowlands emerge. Until then, For the Horde!
