All three editions of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands are now available for 20% off. The eighth major expansion for the massively multiplayer game, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was released back in November and, with this discount, now varies in price from $31.99 to $63.99.
This sale comes as World of Warcraft: Shadowlands prepares for its first major update, Patch 9.1 or Chains of Domination. Currently on the Public Test Realm (PTR), Chains of Domination has been in testing since April and has undergone some patches of its own. Its full release remains without a date currently but players can expect a new zone, 10 boss raid (known as the Sanctum of Domination), as well as a new eight boss Megadungeon.
This sale for Shadowlands is available on Battle.net and lists the three versions of the expansion with their respective discounted prices. The Base edition only has the Wandering Ancient Mount in addition to the expansion but boasts the lowest price at $31.99. The Heroic edition is now $47.99 as opposed to its normal $59.99 price and boasts a character boost, a flying mount, and the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler transmog set quest. The most expensive of the three, the Epic edition, now sits at $63.99 and boasts what the other two have plus a number of additional perks.
This sale comes between major content drops for World of Warcraft players. The Chains of Domination update is set to be the first for Shadowlands but that expansion has been out for several months already. It seems likely that this is a sale meant to keep players interested in the expansion while the update continues to go through fixes on the PTR. It is possible though that the time on the PTR is going well and this sale is supposed to grow interest in Shadowlands before the update is officially dropped.
A sale is always appreciated but the lack of news on a timeline for the Chains of Domination release, other than what it will contain, is starting to frustrate players. Judging from the April 29th patch notes for Chains of Domination it seems more likely that there is a significant amount of work still to be done. Within those notes are large increases to damage outputs which players have suggested means the developer's were far off in their original specifications.
Large changes could mean significant progress though. It has been a few weeks of updates on the PTR and there is a possibility, however slim, that the workload has been less than the developer originally thought. But, regardless of when the update will come, interested players can pick up the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion for 20% off, regardless of edition.
