World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is launching on November 28, and in its first tier of content, it will allow players a chance to earn some mounts in a very unorthodox way. Mount collection in World of Warcraft has long enjoyed popularity and reverence in the game's community, and as the expansions went by, the stable of mounts a player could own increased tenfold.

With there being a 500 Mount Achievement in World of Warcraft, all obtained from numerous sources and through different means, it made sense for Blizzard to offer more unique ways of procuring new steeds – or in this case, fantasy otters. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight sees the return of another beloved race from Wrath of the Lich King in the nomadic Tuskarr, and a newly added NPC in their settlement of Iskaara is the vendor selling the new mounts.

The Ottuk Trader Tattukiaka sells the Ivory Trader's Ottuk and Iskaara Trader's Ottuk mounts, except instead of asking for gold or some other type of currency, this bejeweled Tuskarr demands very specific jewelry if she is to be parted with her ottuk companions. The items she needs are found in the dungeons and raids of Dragonflight, and players can obtain them on any difficulty level. The change was documented by Wowhead on Dragonflight's latest beta build.

In order to obtain the Ivory Trader's Ottuk, players need to hunt down three distinct rings from Dragonflight's dungeons: Thunderous Downburst Ring, looted from The Raging Tempest in The Nokhud Offensive; Unstable Arcane Loop, looted from Leymore in The Azure Vault; and Platinum Star Band, looted from Vexamus in the Algeth'ar Academy. This is the easier version of the Ottuk mounts to obtain, as World of Warcraft players can just queue in the dungeon finder to obtain the required items.

Obtaining the Iskaara Trader's Ottuk, on the other hand, requires players to venture into the Vault of the Incarnates, the first raid of Dragonflight. Tattukiaka asks for two necklaces: Terros' Captive Core, obtained from the second boss Terros; and Eye of the Vengeful Hurricane, which drops from the fifth boss Dathea.

Though it's no Lucid Nightmare from World of Warcraft: Legion, the two Ottuk mounts are still a very welcome change in how mounts can be obtained in the game. Perhaps Tattukiaka's collection will only grow as the expansion unfolds, and players might find new mounts to buy through new raid loot – it's certainly a much more interesting system than having another gold sink, online store mount, or achievement reward.
