Over a year after the launch of World of Warcraft: Legion, MMO players are eagerly looking ahead to the game's next big expansion, Battle for Azeroth. Although we still have some time to go before the release of that content, Blizzard is currently hard at working making constant improvements to the current version of the powerhouse decade-old MMO. The latest big changes help to make the first 60 or so levels of the game much more enjoyable.

One of the most popular new features introduced in the World of Warcraft: Legion expansion was level scaling. The new mechanic meant that players could tackle the new zones in any order they wanted (aside from the very last one) without being overpowered by NPCs and kicked out of areas they weren't ready for yet. This made leveling much more enjoyable and also made it easier to play with friends who might not be at the same exact level. Patch 7.3.5 introduces that same tech to the rest of Azeroth.

Here's a brief explanation of the new features from the official patch notes:

A SCALING WORLD

Every zone in Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, and Draenor now use the level scaling system introduced in Legion. This new scaling system greatly increases the amount of options you have when deciding where to quest and when to move on to the next zone.

All corresponding dungeons and the rewards therein now scale as well.

The level-scaling will be broken up into chunks. Starting zones scale from 1-20 and after players hit level 10, they can move to a group of zones that supports scaling from 10-60. After level 60, new zones start to 'unlock' every five levels.

As if that wasn't enough to make us want to resubscribe, the patch also introduces a new Battlegrounds for PvP enthusiasts.

NEW BATTLEGROUND: SEETHING SHORE

The Alliance and the Horde fight over a precious new resource, Azerite, in this new 10v10 battleground. Seething Shore is a king of the hill battleground where the first faction to collect ten pieces of Azerite from randomly spawned nodes, wins.

The Seething Shore will become available as the story in Silithus unfolds.

If Blizzard is attempting to draw back lapsed players before the new expansion arrives, the company is doing a pretty great job of making the game seem more fun than ever.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC. Expect news regarding the Battle for Azeroth expansion’s release date in the weeks or months to come.
