World of Warcraft has officially announced Patch 10.1, Embers of Neltharion. This content update marks the first major patch in Dragonflight, and adds a new zone, raid, and story chapter to World of Warcraft.

All throughout Dragonflight, players have discovered hints of secrets buried beneath the Dragon Isles. Now, it seems the heroes of World of Warcraft will be literally digging deep into draconic lore in Patch 10.1 as they enter Zaralek Cavern, an expansive underground zone once used by Neltharion as a base of operations.

As they explore the new World of Warcraft zone, players will meet the Niffen–a race of mole-like humanoids and the fifth Renown faction of Dragonflight–who will help them navigate the subterranean caverns alongside a clan of friendly Drogbar. Players will explore volcanic caverns ruled by the Djaradin elders, sulfurous pools full of failed experiments, and beautiful crystalline caverns.

Embers of Neltharion also adds Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, as the second raid in Dragonflight. This secret facility was once the research lab of Neltharion, and is full of dark experiments and ancient knowledge. Players will venture alongside Wrathion, Sabellian, and Ebyssian as they race against both the Primalists and the Sundered Flame rebels to claim the last secrets of Neltharion.

The new patch is also adding a new world event in the form of Fyrakk Assaults. In this event, Fyrakk, the Primal Incarnate of Fire will attack various locations on the Dragon Isles in his search for something to aid his brethren. Players can also expect new local stories, including a chapter pertaining to Tyr and another about Kalegos and the Blue Dragonflight. World of Warcraft is also adding a new type of drake and abilities for Dragonriding, powerful and stylish new gear, and more mounts and cosmetic items.

Were that not exciting enough, World of Warcraft is finally allowing players to create cross-faction guilds with Embers of Neltharion. This highly-anticipated feature is the natural evolution from cross-faction grouping, raiding, and PvP added in Shadowlands, and will enable gamers to play with their friends no matter what faction they prefer to play.

In addition to the exciting announcement for Embers of Neltharion, World of Warcraft also gave an official launch date for Patch 10.0.7, Return to the Forbidden Reach. This smaller story update boasts an impressive amount of content nonetheless, and will bridge the gap between Dragonflight and Embers of Neltharion. Patch 10.0.7 arrives March 21, and while Embers of Neltharion currently has no release date, players can expect Patch 10.1 to hit the Public Test Realm very soon.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC.
