Launching a new expansion to a game that has existed for more than 10 years can't be easy, but Blizzard has definitely been improving the process over the last few years with recent World of Warcraft expansions. Despite all of the big steps forward, a new bug impacted players yesterday and sent the MMO community into a bit of an uproar.

Yesterday's patch created a bug that accidentally paid out a Mythic Cache with some incredibly high value rewards to players who completed a Legion Mythic+ dungeon last week. This may seem like a fun surprise to find in the cache, but it actually caused some serious balance issues for a few hours that caused many World of Warcraft players to take to Twitter and Reddit to vent about.

Here's a look at the official response from the Warcraft Devs account...

The fix came within 24 hours, which seems like a great response time, but some vocal members of the community are still angry that the problem existed in the first place and assert that this sort of issue should have been identified during the beta.

That said, there is likely a very sizable quiet portion of players who weren't impacted by the issue or thought the response and fix went out quickly enough. With a game this large, and with this many moving parts, it's hard to make everyone happy all of the time. Hopefully the problem is avoided in the future and players are about to dungeon and raid without this sort of hiccup.
