World of Warcraft's sixth expansion Legion is fondly remembered by the playerbase for its rich exploration of Azeroth lore and the major focus that it put on class fantasy through Class Order halls and Artifact Weapons. Players spent hours combating the Burning Legion across Azeroth and on the Broken Isles, and they did it as a representative of their chosen class. The barriers between Horde and Alliance were virtually nonexistent during the story as everyone was fighting to stop the demonic invasion, and were united through the Class Order Halls.

The Class Order Halls and Artifact weapons were the focus of World of Warcraft's content during Legion. Players would log in to power up their class specific weapon, and would follow a class specific story that saw them combat the Burning Legion in new ways. These stories were all very well received, and many players fell in love with this new system. However, Blizzard quickly abandoned the concept once Battle for Azeroth launched, and it has not looked back since. Instead, the Class Order Halls have been left to collect dust, and they are just waiting to be tapped again.

World of Warcraft Class Order Halls Explained

WoW Class Order Hall

Class Order Halls were an entirely new concept to World of Warcraft, and they helped finally give players the class fantasy that the game had been missing. Each class had their own Class Order Halls filled with iconic characters and seeping in classic World of Warcraft lore. Druids would spend their time in the Dreamgrove, Paladins would hang out underneath Light's Hope Chapel, Mages were housed in the Hall of the Guardian, Death Knights repurposed Acherus, and even the brand-new Demon Hunters got their own in the form of the Fel Hammer. Every class had one, and that meant there were 12 different Order Halls for players to explore.

Each of these order halls were unique and represented the aesthetic of the class. Players would spend a lot of time here as these served as small hubs of sorts throughout the expansion. There was a mission table where players would send champions out to combat the Burning Legion, players would upgrade their specialization specific weapon here, and there were a series of upgrades that would make the Order Halls more useful. On top of that, each Class Order Hall had their own class specific storyline seeping with rich World of Warcraft lore. This concept gave players a reason to level multiple classes, and offered some of the best writing that the game has had.

Class Order Halls Could Be Used Again

WoW Druid Order Hall

The Class Order Halls offered some of the best content that World of Warcraft has had, but Blizzard left them behind in Legion. Once Battle for Azeroth launched, the game went back to the classic Horde vs Alliance storyline and the Order Halls gathered dust. Shadowlands took players far away from Azeroth and their class fantasies, and Dragonflight is not planning on bringing the Order Halls back. What could have been a form of evergreen content that persists throughout expansions and offers a level of fantasy that the game needs was left behind in favor of new systems.

While Legion's time is long past, the Class Order Halls could still return one day. Many players select their class not just for the powers that they offer, but also for the rich lore. The Order Halls put that on full display, and it finally allowed players to get engrossed in their chosen class. There is no in-game reason why the player character would suddenly abandon their Class Order Hall to start back up a Horde vs Alliance war, and the game would benefit from using this feature again.

Time will tell of Blizzard has plans to revisit the Class Order Halls, but it would be a shame if it chose not to. These Order Halls are one of the reasons that World of Warcraft: Legion is so fondly remembered, and their absence has definitely been felt since. Players want a story seeping with classic Azeroth lore, and the Order Halls would be one of the best ways to deliver that.
