Although World of Warcraft players won't be stepping into the Shadowlands for some time, life goes on for Azeroth's heroes. With the recent pre-patch, everyone is adjusting to new class changes, level squish, and leveling through past expansions, but there's still time to celebrate special holidays. From October 13 to November 1, players can participate in Hallow's End 2020.

Mirroring Halloween in real life, Hallow's End dates back to Classic as a celebration of when the Forsaken broke away from the Lich King's grasp. In 2020, there's more significance to this seasonal event as the imminent Scourge invasion approaches in the lead-up to Shadowlands. With many updates over the years, Hallow's End 2020 keeps players trick-or-treating through every continent and confronting the Headless Horseman.

Candy Buckets

Across all of Azeroth and other worlds, over 130 candy buckets have been placed in each zone. Interacting with these buckets grants a bag filled with Tricky Treats, an event currency, and other Hallow's End cosmetics such as the instant cast Magic Broom mount. However, players should be aware that completing the candy bucket quest has a chance to "Trick" or "Treat" them, either giving a costume buff or polymorphing and pacifying the character. Using transformation spells like the Druid's shapeshift will get rid of the debuff early.

Daily Quests

At every World of Warcraft starter town, the 'Shade of the Horseman' will periodically attack and set multiple buildings aflame. The 'Masked Orphan Matron' NPC will offer a quest to put out these fires, and successfully doing so will cause the Shade to become attackable, triggering another daily quest upon his defeat. Both of these quests are repeatable daily and award Tricky Treats.

Alliance and Horde players can go to Stormwind and Undercity respectively to complete several more dailies. These tasks involve pranking the other faction with stink bombs and extinguishing their wickerman fire, or cleaning up stink bombs and honoring their own wickerman. The wickerman quest also gives a 10 percent EXP and reputation buff, which stacks with the ongoing 100 percent buff to Legion and Battle for Azeroth factions. Players need to speak with Zidormi in Tirisfal Glades to access the past version of Undercity for Hallow's End.

There is a daily in Legion's Val'sharah zone that awards even more Tricky Treats in addition to one of four witch's hats. Note that these helms can only be transmogrified during the event.

The Headless Horseman

One last way to get Tricky Treats is by queuing through the dungeon finder to face the Headless Horseman. Players will need to knock his head off 3 times to defeat this ghost, with the first daily victory gives a 'Loot-Filled Pumpkin' that contains Tricky Treats and different masks. The Horseman can also drop several rings, while the pumpkin may contain rarer item like a one-handed sword and plate helm around level 82. The luckiest players will receive 'The Horseman's Reins' which is one of the rarest mounts in World of Warcraft and can be used for ground travel or flying permanently. Be aware that only level 45 and above characters have a chance to loot the mount.

Tricky Treat Rewards

After acquiring enough Tricky Treats, players can purchase a variety of cosmetic rewards including toys, pets, and several costumes based on Warcraft's greatest villains from NPC vendors.
