With eight expansion packs over more than 15 years, World of Warcraft has no shortage of beautiful locations for fans to explore. One player is taking one of the most iconic places in World of Warcraft and recreating it within Minecraft.World of Warcraft YouTuber Yunatahel is the Minecraft mastermind behind this ambitious project. As one of the premiere loremasters in the French World of Warcraft community, Yunatahel has hundreds of videos exploring every corner of Azeroth and beyond.RELATED: Blizzard Closes Acquisition of Spellbreak Developer Proletariat to Expand Development Pipeline for World of WarcraftIn spite of this impressive resume, Yunatahel’s Minecraft version of Stormwind may be his most ambitious project yet. The short video tour of his progress so far is absurd in its quality–the shots from within his recreation look identical to those from the capital city of the Alliance in World of Warcraft.

The replica of Stormwind isn’t done yet, but the parts that are–from the castle to the docks–look incredible. Yunatahel is designing the interiors of the many buildings across Stormwind as well as the exteriors with the same textures and colors as found in the game, down to the color-coded district rooftops. The untrained eye might be unable to tell the difference between Yunatahel’s recreation and the original Stormwind map found within World of Warcraft.

Yunatahel isn’t the first person to recreate Warcraft locations in Minecraft; players have been doing so since the block-building game first came out. Among the hundreds of examples of Warcraft crossovers with Minecraft, a recent example is a recreation of Elysian Hold from the Shadowlands expansion. Over the last decade, hundreds of locations from Azeroth and beyond can be found all over the internet, made by countless artists.

Yunatahel’s rendition of Stormwind, however, has received a massive amount of attention. Both the official US and French World of Warcraft Twitters shared his work and showered him with praise along with hundreds of fans from across the globe. The quality of work has attracted many new eyes to his work, which has emboldened Yunatahel to make the finished product something truly special.

World of Warcraft is currently in development on Dragonflight, its ninth expansion. This new chapter of WoW will bring players to the Dragon Isles, a storied location immersed in the history of Azeroth. The locations and landmarks shown off in the cinematic trailer and sneak previews of the area have shown off some truly spectacular sights to be seen. No doubt Yunatahel and other builders who play World of Warcraft might find some fantastic new locations to recreate in Minecraft after Dragonflight releases.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC. Dragonflight plans to launch later this year.
