World of Warcraft is setting up an unexpected character’s return through a Renown campaign in Dragonflight. This World of Warcraft story chapter is unlocked through the reputation system in Dragonflight. Warning: Spoilers for Dragonflight below.

During a story questline unlocked via the Valdrakken Accord Renown chain in Dragonflight, called The Silver Purpose, players help the Aspects delve into the secrets left behind by Tyr, the Titan Keeper responsible for empowering the dragonflights. The events of the questline point toward the fallen Keeper making a return in some fashion in the future.

After completing the Halls of Infusion dungeon in Dragonflight and reaching Renown level 11 with the Valdrakken Accord, players can witness the scene from the Aspects past where they last saw Tyr before his death. During the scene, Tyr left a special scale with the Aspects, which he knew would come in handy in the future. After accidentally activating a holographic message from Tyr, the Aspects bring the scale to Tyr’s forge, where it causes the Titan mechanisms to forge a new body for Keeper Tyr.

Unfortunately, the lifeless body of Tyr does not have Tyr’s memories and spirit. The discs left behind in the Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr Dragonflight dungeon could activate this new Tyr, but players are unable to recover them during the instance. Alexstrasza and the other Aspects resolve to find a way to bring back their fallen friend to help them regain their power and defeat the Primalists.

Players are intrigued that Tyr himself may return to World of Warcraft in some fashion. The Titan Keeper is a major historical figure in Warcraft history, having empowered the Aspects and inspired the creation of the Knights of the Silver Hand. The possibility of him returning to the spotlight could lead to players learning some of the most ancient mysteries in World of Warcraft’s history.

However, some players are hesitant to trust the return of the Titan Keeper. Recent revelations from lore books within Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr seem to indicate Tyr’s motives and methods for empowering the dragonflights may have been less pure than they were led to believe, despite the comradery they seemed to share during the quest. If Tyr is to return in some form, players hope World of Warcraft addresses the concerning details of how the dragonflights were empowered, and hope both them and the Aspects get some straight answers. Nevertheless, until World of Warcraft releases more patches and story for Dragonflight, players will have to speculate on what might be next for Tyr and the dragon Aspects.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is available now on PC.
