World of Warcraft recently debuted the Dragonflight Pre-Patch event on its Public Test Realm. Though the event was buggy and only lasted a few hours, it gave World of Warcraft players a look at what they can expect when it goes live within the next month.

The Dragonflight Pre-Patch event is called Primal Storms, and involves armies of Primalist mobs and elementals attacking specific zones. Mobs associated with Earth attack the Northern Barrens, Fire invasions appear in Tirisfal Glades, Storm attacks in Un’Goro Crater, and Water invasions happen in the Badlands. Every 30 minutes, an elemental lord appears, but can’t be attacked until 100 Primalist mobs are killed. Doing so removes its shield so players can slay the lord for event currency and sweet loot.

Players can collect Primeval Essence from participating in the vent. This special currency is used to purchase special event items, including item level catch-up gear using recolored designs from some of Dragonflight’s armor sets. Players can also get the Bag of Furious Winds toy which sucks up nearby critters, or the Unstable Elemental Confluence Heirloom trinket for alts. Players can exchange Primeval Essences with Storm Hunter William by the Boralus docks in Stormwind, or with Storm Huntress Suhrakka by the zeppelin tower in Bladefist Bay in Durotar. Defeating all four elemental lords earns players the Against the Elements Feat of Strength achievement.

World of Warcraft has yet to release a formal start date for the Dragonflight Pre-Patch Event. However, with Shadowlands Season 4 ending on October 25, and Dragonflight releasing on November 28, it is safe to assume the Pre-Patch will bridge the gap between these two events. The Primal Storms event may not begin right away with the Pre-Patch, but players can expect to be able to participate in it for at least two or three weeks before the Dragonflight launch.

Players are excited to participate in the upcoming Pre-Patch event. Though it may not go down in history as much as other World of Warcraft Pre-Patch events, the invasion seems like a lot of fun, and players are excited to collect the varied and interesting rewards.

Other players are worried the event had so many glitches in it considering how close to launch Dragonflight is. With Primal Storms less than a month away, World of Warcraft doesn't have a lot of time to iron out the kinks. Hopefully the Public Test Realm run of the event gave World of Warcraft everything it needs to make sure the live event will go off without any issue.

World of Warcraft is available on PC. Dragonflight launches on November 28.
