After World of Warcraft players finish assisting the red and black Dragonflights in the brand-new zone of The Waking Shores, they are sent off to The Ohn'ahran Plains to continue their Dragonflight questing journey. The Ohn'ahran Plains are made up of vast green fields and rolling hills brimming with life. Centaurs roam the land hunting all sorts of different animals, and the green Dragonflight calls it home. It is a beautiful zone, and its main story may have major implications for the future of World of Warcraft.

Players will enter The Ohn'ahran Plains anywhere from level 62 to 65 and will be tasked with assisting its residents in the war against the Primalists. They will uncover brand-new lore involving new clans of centaurs and will end up working closely with prominent lore figures like the green dragon Merithra. While the story is much shorter than The Waking Shores, it is still seeping with old-school World of Warcraft lore that players will not want to miss.

Clan Teerai upholds the traditions of their ancestors, Clan Ohn'ir is made up of mystics who have a special connection to their god Ohn'ahra, Clan Nokhud is the newest clan to rise to power and prides itself on the strength of its members, and Clan Shikaar are powerful hunters. The player goes around to assist each clan in whatever they need as the gathering is prepared, and they become acquainted with members of each.

Once the gathering is ready, the green dragon emissary appears and asks the centaurs for help. The emissary reveals that the Primalists have been making moves against the ancestral homeland of the Green Dragonflight the Emerald Gardens and that they need help defending it. The majority of the Khans agree, but Clan Nokhud ends up betraying the rest of the clans and murders the emissary.
