Some new assets discovered in the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm could hint at an unexpected development for the Infinite Dragonflight. While these assets could simply be used in the mega-dungeon coming in the next World of Warcraft patch, they could also mean something big coming to the game's future.World of Warcraft recently gave players a first look at Patch 10.1.5, titled Fractures in Time. Though this content update is adding several new features to the game, one of the most notable is the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon.RELATED: World of Warcraft Raiders Changed the Game After Crafting Evoker LegendaryThe instance itself is not yet available for testing on the World of Warcraft PTR, but parts of it can be found in the game’s files. A handful of newly-datamined assets found in a recent build of the PTR show banners, braziers, and even an Oathstone matching the coloration of the Infinite Dragonflight. While these assets could be used in the time-bending mega-dungeon as set pieces, some fans wonder if they might be used by a group of Infinite Dragons who end up allying with the five main Dragonflights, despite being antagonists for most of World of Warcraft.

It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened in World of Warcraft, however. During the Dragonflight campaign in Thaldraszus, the Bronze Dragon Chromie and Infinite Dragon Eternus work together to solve a problem caused by their conflict. Additionally, the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight itself is none other than a future version of Nozdormu, the Bronze Dragon Aspect. Considering the Infinites are literally the same people as those they are fighting, it is possible they may be able to find some common ground.

On the other hand, these new assets could just be used in the upcoming Dragonflight mega-dungeon. Other fans have discovered an ability from one of the encounters in the Dawn of the Infinite instance that seems to feature the Infinite Oathstone as a mechanic. Rather than coming to the main timeline as a new ally of the Dragon Aspects, they could simply appear in a corrupted version of the future where the Infinites have taken over the Dragonflight hub of Valdrakken.

Either way, it seems the Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon is going to be a lore-dense instance. Players will battle Dragonflight fan favorite Iridikron at the site of Galakrond’s demise, defeat iconic characters from Warcraft history, and even face an Infinite-corrupted version of a Titan Keeper. There is no release date for Patch 10.1.5 yet, but players can expect the next World of Warcraft update to drop in a couple of months if it hopes to keep to its ambitious release schedule for 2023.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
