Pre-orders for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight have officially gone live. Finally, players will be able to lock in their purchase for the ninth expansion and unlock some in-game goodies to play with while they wait. It is pretty standard for a World of Warcraft expansion to have multiple editions to choose from, but it can be difficult to decide which one is right. Each edition offers some different items that may just make them worthwhile, but they also drastically increase in price.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has four different versions, three of which are digital only. Each edition offers the base expansion and access to a special pre-order pet, but as the cost increases so do the items on offer. While players can gain access to everything coming with Dragonflight through the basic edition, some may want to take the extra leap and unlock all the extra digital goodies.
The Basic Edition
The Basic Edition of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is what the majority of players will be happy getting. For $49.99, players gain access to the entire expansion and a brand-new race-class hybrid the Dracthyr. If players choose to pre-order this version, they will also gain access to the Drakks pet as their special pre-order bonus. This is the cheapest version of the expansion and has pretty much everything that a player would need, but some may want more out of their purchase.
The Heroic Edition
The Heroic Edition is the next tier for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and it provides everything in the Basic offer plus more. For $69.99, players gain access to the entire expansion, the Drakks pet, a level 60 boost that they can use on any of their characters, a special Tangled Dreamweaver flying mount, and a Murkastrasza pet. If players want to be fast-tracked to max level before Dragonflight releases, and they want every pet or mount the game offers, then the Heroic Edition may be right.
The Epic Edition
The Epic Edition is the final digital tier for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. For $89.99, players will gain access to all the previous goodies plus a couple more cosmetic items and 30 days of game time. They will be given the Timewalker's Hearthstone Effect, the Diadem of the Spell-Keeper Head transmog, and the Wings of Awakening back transmog with five different color options. This edition is perfect for those who love transmog armor sets and want every bit of content that the game has to offer.
The Collector's Set
The Collector's Set is the only version that is not available on Battle.net; players have to visit the Blizzard Gear store to purchase it. The Collector's Set is the only physical edition of the game, offering everything the other three included plus more. For $129.99, players are given The Art of Dragonflight hardcover art book, an Alexstrasza mouse pad, the five-pin Dragonflight set, and a dragon-themed game display case. There is no disc included in the box, players get a code for the Epic Edition instead. Still, this edition is perfect for collectors and the biggest World of Warcraft fans.
Most of these editions will still be purchasable well after Dragonflight launches. For those who prefer to wait, they will only lose access to Drakks pet and likely the Collector's Set, since it will inevitably sell out. If a player purchases the Basic edition and decides that they would have preferred the Heroic, they will also be able to upgrade if they choose. Nothing is set in stone, and players will have plenty of time to decide as Dragonflight nears.
