The first cutscene plays immediately after the first cinematic in Dragonflight, where Alexstrasza and Raszageth battle over the Ruby Life Pools in the Waking Shores. As Wrathion swoops down to check on the Dragon Queen after her scuffle, he immediately asks for help in retaking the Obsidian Sanctum from the marauding djaradin giants. Alexstrasza refuses, concerned with her own flight first, and Wrathion flies off to do it himself.

The next two cutscenes take place at the Obsidian Sanctum. Wrathion’s attack is interrupted by Sabellian, fellow black dragon and fellow claimant to the title of Aspect. After successfully reclaiming the citadel, the two dragons square off with one another with no small amount of snark about who will be the new Aspect of the black dragonflight.

The next two cinematics take place in the Azure Span, where Kalecgos seeks to awaken the Azure Oathstone. There, he encounters the arcane simulacrum of Sindragosa, consort to the former Aspect Malygos. With her guidance, Kalecgos is able to learn what it means to be an Aspect and begin to reunite the disparate blue dragonflight of World of Warcraft.

This cutscene takes place between the two featuring Sindragosa. An elder of the Iskaara Tuskarr has passed, and Kalecgos gets to witness the funerary rights of the humble folk. After an unexpected visitor during the funeral, the wise tuskarr help teach Kalecgos a valuable lesson about family, memory, and duty. The second cutscene, on the other hand, plays when players help cook the Community Feast as a part of the Iskaara Tuskarr Renown activities in Dragonflight.

The final cutscene plays near the end of the current main scenario in Thaldraszus, after players rescue Chromie from tumbling through time in a battle against an infinite dragon. Nozdormu, Aspect of the bronze dragonflight, comes face to face with his grim fate to become Murozond of the infinite dragonflight, but Chromie swears to stand by his side and find a way to save him.

Though these are all the pre-rendered cutscenes in the leveling story of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, there are tons of other cutscenes that run on the game’s engine. While not of the same quality as their pre-rendered counterparts, they do an excellent job building up the expansion’s story. Players can expect more Dragonflight cinematics as Renown story chapters become available, and when Dragonflight's Vault of the Incarnates raid opens in a few weeks.
