One especially unlucky World of Warcraft player had their attempt to catch a Treasure Goblin during the Diablo 4 A Greedy Emissary event backfire in an unexpected way. The World of Warcraft event monster may have been defeated, but it got the last laugh in this hilarious video.

World of Warcraft is currently running A Greedy Emissary, the first half of its two-part Diablo 4 crossover event. Until it ends on June 14, players can hunt down Treasure Goblins in various corners of Azeroth every half hour and defeat them for a chance at some unique Diablo 4-themed items.

Recently, a player had their Treasure Goblin encounter end in a most unexpected way. Redditor and World of Warcraft fan MemeStarKeem shared a video of one of their latest hunts. The Treasure Goblin spawned in the Western Earthshrine in Orgrimmer–a hub that contains multiple portals leading to different Cataclysm zones. Once the Treasure Goblin was defeated, MemeStarKeem tried to loot it. However, while trying to click on the corpse of the goblin, they erroneously clicked on one of the portals and were transported on a one-way trip across Kalimdor to Uldum.

MemeStarKeem was not the only victim of the Treasure Goblin’s post-mortem prank. Several other players appear in Uldum shortly after they spawned in. Their collective shock and surprise were evident, with some frantically trying to teleport back to Orgrimmar to claim their loot while others simply laughed and accepted their defeat.

Their fellow fans got a kick out of MemeStarKeem’s World of Warcraft video. Some shared their stories of being teleported away from the Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin in similar ways, while others suggested using the Loot-a-Rang toy or waiting until everyone else defeats the monster and clears out to avoid falling victim to the trick next time. Many World of Warcraft players also discussed their own luck–both good and bad–in acquiring the exclusive cosmetics from the event.

World of Warcraft fans still have a couple of weeks to farm Treasure Goblins for all of its rare item drops. Once A Greedy Emissary ends, the Winds of Sanctuary will give players a huge experience and reputation buff from June 15 through July 11. Meanwhile, Diablo 4 servers are starting to go live across the globe for early access. Blizzard fans will soon have plenty of Treasure Goblins to hunt down for awesome loot, regardless of whether they are exploring Azeroth or Sanctuary.
