World of Warcraft Classic fans have had a lot to celebrate recently between the Ahn’Qiraj war effort Season of Mastery update and the Wrath of the Lich King Classic announcement. To add to the hype, Burning Crusade Classic just launched Fury of the Sunwell–the final major patch before Wrath of the Lich King.

Fury of the Sunwell adds the Isle of Quel’Danas zone to World of Warcraft Classic. The small island is host to daily quests, rewards, and the Sunwell Plateau raid, which pits players against the demon lord Kil'jaeden and corrupted Prince Kael’thas.

Players seeking to go to the Isle of Quel’Danas will need to head to Shattrath City after reaching level 70. When there, players will find new quests in the Aldor Rise or Scryer’s Tier, depending on their affiliation. A short quest will lead players to Ironforge for Alliance players and Silvermoon for Horde, which will provide flight paths to Quel’Danas, where they can begin their daily quests to gain reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive.

The Fury of the Sunwell patch was the final patch before Wrath of the Lich King was launched, meaning the next expansion will likely come to Classic soon. World of Warcraft said it was expected to launch in 2022, meaning the Wrath of the Lich King beta is likely to come sometime in the summer, with a likely launch in fall or winter. The Exploring Azeroth: Northrend book is currently slated for an October launch as well, further suggesting a similar release for Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

Many World of Warcraft Classic fans are excited to return to the Isle of Quel’Danas in Fury of the Sunwell. The Sunwell Plateau raid in Burning Crusade is fondly remembered by players due to its high difficulty and interesting lore. These players can’t wait to help fight back Kael’thas and his Sunfury army to retake the Isle for the Blood Elves once again–nor can they wait to head to Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic soon after.

There was some confusion at Fury of the Sunwell's announcement. Though NA servers have their weekly resets on Tuesday, other regions reset at other times during the week, meaning they can't access the new content yet. Fury of the Sunwell is live on NA servers right now and will go live in other regions after their normal weekly reset time periods.

World of Warcraft Classic is available now on PC. Wrath of the Lich King Classic is scheduled to release in late 2022.
