World of Warcraft players might be getting a quest involving Baine Bloodhoof in Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7. Several datamined assets from World of Warcraft’s Public Test Realm suggest the Bloodhoof Chieftain may finally be appearing in Dragonflight.

Right now, World of Warcraft is currently in the development stage for Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7, which will contain some of the first new story content since the Vault of the Incarnates raid. Parts of this patch are currently available for testing on World of Warcraft’s PTR–meaning dataminers have access to the files located in these public builds.

A series of assets discovered in these files suggest Baine Bloodhoof, leader of the Tauren, will likely be involved in a new quest coming to Dragonflight. A new buff called Baine’s Justice makes reference to a battle against the Nokhud Centaur, and an item called Baine’s Potion of Invisibility suggests a stealth mission that involves avoiding Nokhud Wardogs. New quest items for a Tauren headdress and necklace, new Tauren NPCs, and a Tauren totem weapon model all give some hints as to what the quest might entail.

It seems the Nokhud Centaur from the Ohn’ahran Plains may provoke Baine’s ire, causing him to seek the player’s aid in enacting justice against them. It is possible the Nokhud stole the quest items, which players must retrieve by sneaking into their camp. Bovan Windtotem, one of the newly-discovered NPCs, first appeared in Warcraft 3 when Thrall helped save Baine from the Centaur of Kalimdor, creating an interesting parallel with this new quest. The totem itself may be a new weapon model used by Baine–or better yet, a transmog option players can collect.

Many players are excited to see Baine take the stage again. The character has not gotten many opportunities to shine in recent expansions. As a major Horde leader, fans are eager to see him go to the Ohn’ahran Plains zone in Dragonflight because of the Tauren’s history with the eponymous Wild God and its native Centaur.

That said, a lot of World of Warcraft players are hesitant to get their hopes up for the quest just yet. Baine Bloodhoof’s characterization has been troubled, and most of his appearances have involved him getting captured or helping the Alliance, rather than standing up as a champion of his own people. During Shadowlands, Baine became a meme because all he did was sit around and do nothing. Hopefully, his appearance in Dragonflight is suitably awesome so he can start to redeem himself in the eyes of jaded World of Warcraft fans.
