In celebration of World of Warcraft's 12 year anniversary, Blizzard announces a new event where players can grab free in-game items, trivia, and a corgi pup.

Arguably the most popular MMORPG in ever created, World of Warcraft, continues to keep its community engaged and happy even after 12 years. It's fascinating to think that when WoW first released in 2004, Midway was still an active developer, Nintendo announced what would later become the Wii, and a little game called Half-Life 2 first launched on PC.  To celebrate the special occasion and the game's incredibly long lifespan, Blizzard is kicking off an anniversary event, rewarding players with a cache full of free content including their very own puppy.

To participate in the event, players simply need to log in to their World of Warcraft account by November 30, where a 12th Anniversary Gift Package will be awaiting for them in the mail. The package contains a number of in-game items including 200 Timewarped badges, a 12% boost to reputation and XP for an hour, and a quest item called a Letter from the Timewalkers, which has players heading to either Stormwind or Ogrimmar.

Daily quests from Historian Llore and Historian Ju’pe are also available, rewarding additional Timewarped badges for answering World of Warcraft trivia correctly. For many though, the biggest thing to come out of this event is the ability to purchase an adorable corgi pup. Other anniversary items are available to purchase as well should players want to further commemorate the moment. This isn't the first time Blizzard has given away these dogs to players, though this version is much less molten than previous iterations.

Thank you to all of the heroes of the Horde and the Alliance for your unfaltering dedication to Azeroth. Whether you are a clever night elf, a nimble gnome, a mystical troll, or a stalwart human, we appreciate your continued support, and we’re looking forward to sharing many more adventures with you for years to come.

Already, it has been a big year for the incredibly popular online title. After launching the well received Legion expansion over the summer, Blizzard made a number of interesting announcements at BlizzCon 2016 this year. Legion is set to receive a fairly large update called The Tomb of Sargeras, which will introduce a new Raid with nine new bosses to overcome, culminating with players sealing the portal that the Burning Legion is using to enter Azeroth.

The update also includes a new and long overdue dungeon called the Cathedral of Eternal Night tasking players with ascending the spire of the Cathedral. Not only that, quality of life updates include improvements to Artifacts, additions of PvP brawls, Legion assaults, and flying to the Broken Isles. At this time, Blizzard does not have a date for when this update will arrive, though players should expect to see the content on the PTR server first.

Will you be rocking a corgi in your travels around Azeroth or are you done with the game? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
