World of Warcraft Classic was something that fans of the ever-expanding MMORPG had been wanting for years. Released in 2019, World of Warcraft Classic brought the game back to its original state before the release of "The Burning Crusade," which was World of Warcraft's first expansion. The game was set back to nine original classes, with eight races in total from players to pick from, and much of the gameplay was similar to that of World of Warcraft in 2006, with some necessary changes that improved the playability of the game.

The introduction of World of Warcraft Classic was seen as a refreshing move by many, as it allowed older players to play the game in a fairly original state, while allowing new players to join on without needing to splash their cash on multiple expansions. For players that wanted to experience the release of the expansions again, World of Warcraft Classic announced the introduction of a "Burning Crusade Classic" in May 2021. One World of Warcraft player though, has imagined what the initial decision to include World of Warcraft was like over at Blizzard HQ.

Using models and environments from World of Warcraft, the short animated video shows a hilarious parody of the decision-making involved at Blizzard HQ, complete with a greedy goblin at the head of the table, chaos ensuing outside Blizzard's boardroom, and a skeleton representing Blizzard's PR department. It's clear that the video is taking more than a couple of jabs at the World of Warcraft developer, and that it has a more cynical view on the introduction of World of Warcraft Classic's inclusion. Cynicism is nothing new for World of Warcraft fans, though it does not feature in every fan-made animation. Some of them are quite wholesome, such as one wholesome, winter-themed World of Warcraft animation.

The fan response to this video was positive, with many people in the comments enjoying the humor and pokes at Blizzard. One commenter particularly enjoyed the gag of a "budget cuts" button resulting in an employee at the board meeting being thrown out of a window by two ogres, while another commenter wrote "I think this perfectly represents how the Shareholders and inner circle at Blizzard operate at a core level." Animation though, is not something solely used by Blizzard's fans, the developer itself teased an animated series based on World of Warcraft in 2020.

The YouTuber who created the animation, known as "Gorak's Guides," also commented that they had omitted "several things going on that I did not think were fit subjects for levity." While the YouTuber didn't specifically reference the real-life situation they were mentioning, it was likely the ongoing harassment case against Activision Blizzard, which has recently seen employees fired for misconduct.

World of Warcraft Classic is available now on PC.
