World of Warcraft players and developers alike have something very special to celebrate this month. November 1 begins a three-week celebration of World of Warcraft turning 16. While this year’s festivities will not be as grand as last year’s milestone celebration, there are still some special things available to players. The main attraction is a new piece of equipment, and getting it is easier than some players would expect.

This special celebration was initially slated for later in the month, lining up more closely with the actual anniversary date. Once the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion got a new release date, the developers moved this event forward so that the two wouldn’t overlap. The anniversary will have a 16% experience boost—one per year, as is tradition—and make several past rewards available that players may have missed in exchange for Timewarped Badges.

One new item is being added to this list of collectibles, known as the Crafted Cloak of War. This blue and gold cloak resembles the Heart of Azeroth that will soon become obsolete once players begin the new expansion. Players should have a package in their mail that celebrates the anniversary and awards them with 200 Timewarped Badges.

The cloak itself costs exactly 200 Timewarped Badges, so many players can just exchange the two and call it quits there. More determined players know that they need to farm for as many Timewarped Badges as they can in order to get some of the best World of Warcraft transmogs and several of the rarest mounts.

Players can make their way to their home city of Orgrimmar or Stormwind and take a portal to Caverns of Time. There they can find Chromie, who has become one of the most important NPCs in the game with the addition of Chromie Time. The Badges themselves can be redeemed in either Orgrimmar or Stormwind to Historian Ju’Pa and Historian Llore, respectively.

While some players are upset that the cloak only comes in one color or is not as special as the previous year’s rewards, others are grateful to get anything at all. Now that the Hallow’s Eve event is over, this helps players fill the gap until the Scourge event starts on November 10 and the expansion releases later this month. Shadowlands will usher in a whole new world of farming and grinding, so players should knock out whatever they can in these few weeks.

Players can don this cloak as they travel around leveling up their other characters. With Chromie’s ability to let players level in any of the previous expansions, there is a current surge in discussion about older content that hasn’t happened in years. While some World of Warcraft zones are quicker to level in than others, it is fascinating to see places players haven’t visited in nearly a decade suddenly become relevant again. With World of Warcraft celebrating 16 years, it is times like these that players truly see how the game titan has last this long.
