The creators of Words With Friends 2, the popular Scrabble like mobile game, have paired up with Amazon's Alexa to create a new spinoff game, titled Word Pop. This game is entirely voice controlled and can only be played on an Alexa system.

The Alexa will display a series of letters as well as a ton of blank spaces, and players are tasked with spelling out as many words as they can from those letters. Spelling does count, and there is a one minute timer on each set of words, meaning players will need to go quickly.

This concept is nothing new, as there are many mobile apps which ask players to unscramble or make words out of seemingly random letters, but it may be one of the first big name games to be a purely smart home device based game, and perhaps more will follow in the future.

At the moment, this game is only available to Alexa owners, but given time it may make its way over to Google Home or other smart home devices. The video above gives a better idea of what the game is all about, even if its actors are getting a little too excited about a word game they appear to be playing alone.

Word Pop is available now exclusively on Alexa.
