How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a quick and simple game for puzzle enthusiasts. This in-browser, word-based game is all about guessing a secret, five-letter word that changes once a day. Wordle was recently purchased by the New York Times, but for now remains free-to-play and ad free. All players have to do to participate is to head to the website on their computer, tablet, mobile, or other internet-connected device and think up a good starting five-letter word.
Wordle has a few more rules as well, including:
- Players have only six tries to guess the correct word.
- They start the game by selecting a five-letter word. It must be a real English word. While there are some best starting Wordle words, players can choose whatever starting word they wish.
- The letters of the word will be highlighted in green when correct, yellow when it's the right letter in the wrong spot, and gray when the letter isn't in the puzzle at all.
Once the six tries are up, if the correct word hasn't been found, players lose that round and will need to wait until midnight local time to try the next day's puzzle.
