PlatinumGames has released a new playable demo for the remaster of The Wonderful 101 with the ability to play as Bayonetta from the beginning of the game.

The demo, which is available for the Nintendo Switch, PC and PS4, features the prologue in the game as well as the first three missions, giving players a few hours of content that can also be carried on into the full version of The Wonderful 101 which launched earlier this year.

Bayonetta was available in the original 2013 version of The Wonderful 101 for the Wii U, but only as a secret unlockable character. The demo and new update for the remaster allows her character to be playable at any time. For players who already own the remaster, simply enter the code UMBRANGIFT to unlock Wonder-Bayonetta and to unlock Wonder-Jeanne and Wonder-Rodin, enter ANGELSLAYERS.

Though The Wonderful 101 was well reviewed with its original release, sales of the game fell short, which is possibly due to the lack of popularity of the Wii U. Originally published by Nintendo, Platinum decided to self publish and use Kickstarter to gauge the interest of the fans with several tiered goals that allowed for additional DLC of the game, the Kickstarter for The Wonderful 101 was a success and gave Platinum the ability to launch the new version of The Wonderful 101 on other platforms.

The Wonderful 101 Remastered was celebrated by fans and critics alike, with many wondering if a sequel to the game would be in development. Though Platinum hasn't announced a sequel, Director Hideki Kamiya has stated that the team has heard the fan's interest in a The Wonderful 101 sequel, and has some ideas for where one would go, but the developer is uncertain on how much further they could take the series, feeling that the remaster already pushed several boundaries.

Meanwhile, fans eagerly waiting for Bayonetta's third outing can breathe a sigh of relief as Kamiya has confirmed that despite the long silence, Bayonetta 3 has not been cancelled. The announcement of Bayonetta 3 happened in 2017 at The Game Awards where Platinum confirmed the existence of the game, as well as the ports on Bayonetta 1 and 2 to the Nintendo Switch.

While there has been a significant drought when it comes to news of the game, it's worth noting that the 2020 edition of The Game Awards is a few weeks away, with an expectation of many surprise reveals. While it's currently unknown if PlatinumGames has any special reveals at the show, history may repeat itself.

The Wonderful 101 Remaster is available on PC, PS4, and Switch.
