The upcoming Wonder Woman game is set to put players in control of Diana of Themyscira as she strives to unite her two worlds, the Amazonian, and the modern human. Being created by Monolith Productions, the studio behind the Shadow of War series, the game has already built up a lot of hype and promises to deliver an action-packed, open-world experience. So, it is not unusual that fans are hoping for specific locations, storylines, villains, and allies from the comics to appear in the upcoming Wonder Woman game.

As one of the “Big Three” of DC Comics, Wonder Woman has always been one of the most powerful characters in the universe, often placed on the same level as Superman. From her intriguing rogue’s gallery to the many fantastic storylines, Wonder Woman has turned into more than just a character in comics. With all the love she has from fans, Monolith Productions will need to ensure that the game is not only great but also includes certain elements that are solely related to Wonder Woman alone.

Themyscira – Wonder Woman’s Home

Themyscira

As an Amazonian warrior and princess, Wonder Woman was born on Themyscira, an island where only women are permitted to live. Themyscira is an iconic location for Wonder Woman and for any game that focuses on Princess Diana, so it will need to be a place that players should be able to explore, even only as a prologue location. Including it in the upcoming game will give Wonder Woman a great starting point, set up the story of the game, and give players a hub that they could visit to upgrade weapons, or even understand the lore behind the hero's many iconic stories.

If the Wonder Woman game is setting up an in-depth origin story for the character, then Themyscira will be a necessity for the game. Handing players control of Wonder Woman during training could serve as a tutorial for combat and traversal and could even open the door for the character to communicate with other legendary Amazonian warriors, like her mother, Hippolyta, or one of Wonder Woman’s many sisters. Whatever the case, Themyscira would be a great location to include in the game as it will likely bring a lot of nostalgia for long-time fans and give newer fans a chance to explore Wonder Woman’s first home.

Wonder Woman SuperVillain Ares DC Comics

As with any upcoming superhero game based on comics, fans are hoping that some of Wonder Woman’s most iconic villains will appear in the game. At the top of this list is Ares, the God of War, and one of Wonder Woman’s greatest enemies, and a recurring threat to the Amazonians on Themyscira. Having Ares feature in the game will please many fans and having the hero and villain clash swords could be one of the most entertaining boss battles in recent times.

Another big villain that should appear in the Wonder Woman game is Circe, the evil sorceress and sworn enemy of Wonder Woman. Her involvement would likely bring other villains to the game as she has employed some of Wonder Woman’s other enemies, such as Cheetah and Giganta during her quest to finally take down the Amazonians. Circe’s magical prowess and her connection with the Greek Gods would be a great way to introduce characters like Hermes, who has helped Wonder Woman during her battles.

Nemesis System

shadow of mordor nemesis system

Monolith Productions has garnered a lot of respect following Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and more particularly, the excellent Nemesis system that elevated the story and progression of the game. The system offered fans an ever-evolving set of enemies that can either turn to help the protagonist or grow stronger and angrier after certain encounters. This system would be a great addition to the Wonder Woman game as the character is known for making decisions that can often lead to certain villains holding a grudge and vowing to kill her.

It has not been confirmed that the Nemesis system will appear in the upcoming Wonder Woman game, but it would certainly be an interesting addition. With the game setting itself up to give players a look at Wonder Woman’s first experience in the human world, it could serve to form new rivalries and partnerships. Silver Swan, for example, was once a close friend of Wonder Woman, and certain versions of Cheetah felt overshadowed by the hero, so the interactions with these characters using the Nemesis system could alter the way they act in the story.

The upcoming Wonder Woman game will need to deliver exciting gameplay, characters, and a story that truly embodies the character. Fans will eagerly await the chance to play Diana and fight against her enemies and experience the two sides of the hero that embodies peace, strength, and self-reliance. With Monolith Productions developing the game and the possibility of the Nemesis system being introduced, fans could get a unique perspective on Wonder Woman and the list of characters that make up her rogue gallery.

Wonder Woman is currently under development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
