A cosplayer showed off their incredibly accurate DCEU Wonder Woman costume, which they made out of leather and metal by hand. The excellent design and craftsmanship could lead fans to mistake it for the actual costume worn by Gal Gadot in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Wonder Woman was first introduced to the DCEU in Zack Snyder’s 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where she was portrayed by Gadot. While Snyder’s follow-up to Man of Steel was met with pretty harsh feedback, Gadot’s Wonder Woman was not amongst the criticisms. A fierce five-thousand-year-old Amazonian warrior, Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, was a force to be reckoned with. From there, she went on to star in her own solo film helmed by director Patty Jenkins, who recently returned for the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984.

While the first Wonder Woman film was met with fairly positive feedback from audiences, Wonder Woman 1984 was maligned by critics when it was released on Christmas day 2020. Steeped in a 1980s pop aesthetic, the tone of the sequel was drastically different from its WWI set predecessor, and the plot was confusing at best and downright ridiculous at worst. Regardless, Wonder Woman has remained a popular character in the DCEU. Her appearance in these films marks the first time she’s been portrayed in live-action since the 1970s Linda Carter TV show.

More recently, Gadot reprised the role in Zack Snyder’s director's cut of Justice League. While she did appear in the theatrical release, the four-hour Snyder cut delved deeper into her Amazonian roots and her search for information about the movie's villain, Darkseid. While the future of the DCEU remains uncertain and ever-changing, Gadot is confirmed to be returning to the role along with director Patty Jenkins for a third Wonder Woman film.

Maybe the costume department should hire Reddit user "River_Song," because they clearly know what they are doing. The Wonder Woman costume seen in the photo was hand-made using leather and metal, according to the cosplayer herself. There’s clearly attention to detail and a love and passion for the art form.

In the comment section, the cosplayer credits her stepfather, a professional blacksmith, as her mentor. She also claims to have been mistaken for the real thing by some children after doing birthday videos with them. She says being 6ft tall in real life lends to the illusion of being an Amazon warrior.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max.
