Although Wonder Woman 1984 is no longer in the spotlight now that Black Widow took over the noble task of reviving the box office, Diana Prince remains the most recognizable female superhero out there. That is in no small part thanks to Lynda Carter’s exploits back in the '70s, which made classic Wonder Woman a pop culture icon.
Luckily, Carter is also part of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman saga, as the actor got a fitting cameo towards the end of 1984 that ensured her the part of the legendary Asteria within the world inhabited by Gal Gadot. While each of these beautiful women marked an era, vintage Wonder Woman has a unique charm to her that is much appreciated by cosplay fans.
For veteran cosplayer Katerina Marie (check out her lovely Yennefer cosplay), the relative simplicity behind Lynda Carter's original Wonder Woman costume is the perfect way to honor this female icon’s legacy, with her blue eyes even mimicking Carter’s signature stare from the series. Of course, this costume bears little resemblance to Gadot’s more rugged armor that actually makes Wonder Woman capable of taking on an army, or at least look the part when doing so.
Naturally, the fact that the Atlanta native Marie is 5’9” goes a long way in her really looking the part, especially when compared to the two former beauty queens who have played Diana. After all, let’s not forget the Amazons from Themyscira are all elite athletes who could easily play in the WNBA and grace NBA 2K22’s cover.
Wonder Woman's costumes have received countless redesigns over the years, with each iteration making Diana more battle-ready than the previous ones, which date back to the days when she was fighting crime while wearing heels. Gadot’s current outfit goes after the DC Rebirth look that actually makes Diana look more like a warrior, though Jenkins also changed the costume in her own films to make its overall color palette a bit brighter in Wonder Woman 1984.
With a third Wonder Woman film confirmed by Jenkins and Warner Bros., it's still a mystery when and where Diana's adventures will take her next, even though the idea of taking Wonder Woman to the future seems quite enticing, especially when considering 1984's relatively poor reception when compared to the first movie. There's also no clue of whether the next film will find room for Carter's Asteria to be more than just a lovely cameo to please fans, or if it'll be directly tied to the plot and Diana herself so that these two queens can continue expanding their legacy.
