A new promotional image for Wonder Woman 1984 provides fans with their first look at Kristen Wiig's transformation into the villain Cheetah. Fans could be waiting a while to see Wiig's performance in the movie, though, as Warner Bros. has now delayed Wonder Woman 1984 to October.

On Twitter today, several fan accounts shared an image of Kristen Wiig's character as Cheetah, the half-human, half-cheetah hybrid. While Wiig's character begins the movie as a friend of Wonder Woman (as Diana Prince), she later turns into the main antagonist of Wonder Woman 1984. This is perhaps why fans have had to wait so long to see Wiig as Cheetah and why the only other images of Wiig in the movie are of her completely human character, Barbara Minerva.

The release of this promotional image signals that the Wonder Woman 1984 marketing campaign is about to ramp up ahead of the movie's new October release date. However, fans of Wonder Woman say that they would really like Warner Bros. to release a new trailer for the movie as the last one was released back seven months ago.

While fans may bemoan the lack of more Wonder Woman 1984 information, the positive is that director Patty Jenkins has big plans for more Wonder Woman movies. In an interview, Jenkins confirmed that she is working on ideas for Wonder Woman 3, though a movie about the Amazons is likely to be released before that.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be in theaters from October 2, 2020.
