Yesterday's PlayStation showcase gave fans quite a look into the future of the PS5, and it seems like this generation of Sony titles is being led by Insomniac Games. The reveal of Marvel's Wolverine shocked plenty of fans, but one small detail has some implications for where the story might go.

There wasn't a lot of information on display during the brief teaser trailer for Marvel's Wolverine that played during the showcase, other than the fact that a game is coming, but a detail sitting on the bar with Logan might imply a plot point in the game. When the camera first cuts to a close-up shot of Logan's hands, an eye patch can be seen on the right side of the frame and seen once again when the camera cuts back for the claw reveal.

While it might just seem like an inconsequential item that could be found in the rough and tough bars that Wolverine often hangs out in, it has connections to the comics, as Logan wears an eye patch when trying to hide his identity. The eye patch is most infamously known for being the crux of Wolverine's alter ego on the lawless island of Madripoor when he takes up the name "The Patch."

The fact that the trailer featured the eye patch could mean that Wolverine is headed to Madripoor at some point in the game or that he might have to fake his own death as he does in the comics. Despite not being a great cover, the eye patch is certainly a memorable part of Wolverine's history, so it might make sense that it could be included in the game in one way or another.

As so little is known about Marvel's Wolverine that there's no telling if the eye patch is going to show up in the game or if it was simply an Easter egg for diehard fans of the character. A similar detail can be found earlier in the teaser with the license plate on the right side of the bar that reads "HLK 181" which is a clear allusion to The Incredible Hulk 181 which was the first appearance of Wolverine in the comics.

Insomniac is going to be quite busy as it's also working on Spider-Man 2, which was revealed during the presentation. The studio has a great track record with Marvel games, so Marvel's Wolverine seems like it's going to shape up to be another one of Insomniac's greatest hits.
