Following its official reveal last year, MachineGames is now a little more than a month away from launching its latest title, Wolfenstein: Youngblood. At Bethesda's E3 2019 showcase, the title was given some stage time, revealing a brand new trailer as well as some gameplay details which aim to shake up the familiar shooter mechanics fans may have gotten used to with the previous two games. During a hands-on demo with the game, fans also now know about how long they'll be fighting Nazi enemies as BJ's twin daughters Jessica and Sophia Blazkowicz inside an alternative 1980's timeline.

The topic of how long Wolfenstein: Youngblood will take to complete was recently addressed by Jerk Gustafsson, the executive producer at MachineGames. When asked specifically how long it would likely take players to beat the campaign, Gustafsson pegged the experience to last anywhere between 25-30 hours if the player does everything the game has to offer. Oddly enough, Gustafsson confirmed that this game is the studio's largest game to date and is set up to be the longest one as well, yet it also has had the shortest production time.

Part of the reason why the studio believes this will be its longest game to date is the change in gameplay style. Unlike the previous two Wolfenstein games, Youngblood ditches the linear style missions and instead gives the player the choice as to which mission to tackle. This non-linear order, an added focus on co-op gameplay, and new level progression system, which unlocks gear and abilities over time, allowed the studio to add in even more optional and side activities for players to take part in during the main campaign.

Not everything was smooth-sailing for the latest Wolfenstein game at E3, however. A bit of controversy broke out over the topic of microtransactions, as representatives revealed that players could purchase gameplay items and ability skills with real money using a premium currency. The official Wolfenstein Twitter account quickly refuted these claims by stating that using the in-game Silver currency and premium Gold currency, players would only be able to purchase cosmetic items like weapon and power suit skins, not weapon upgrades and attachments as originally thought.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood is scheduled to release on July 26, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
