All eyes were on Bethesda’s E3 2017 showcase, with expectations for a number of new games to be officially confirmed by the publisher. From the off, new games were being announced, but Bethesda waited until a little into the showcase to unveil what many fans had been hoping for – confirmation of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus.
Of course, a full trailer for the game and an official reveal from Bethesda for this Wolfenstein sequel has been long on the cards, and thankfully the publisher took the time to truly show off the game in style with a rather substantial trailer. Those interested in checking it out can do so below.
That said, the trailer itself at least tried to keep things a little mysterious in terms of the overall story, but rest assured that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will maintain a high level of violent, Nazi-killing action that fans of the franchise, and of The New Order in particular, have come to expect.
Thankfully, gamers also have a date to put in their diaries, as Bethesda also gave a release date for the title. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is currently set to launch on 27 October, 2017. So, there’s plenty of time to get ready to get ready for more of the intense action we know and love.
Of course, this trailer has been something fans of the Wolfenstein franchise have been waiting for since 2015, after the existence of a sequel to The New Order was officially confirmed. Unfortunately for Bethesda, even the sequel’s name was not kept much of a mystery, as the possibility of the game being called The New Colossus has been doing the rounds for some time, and was all but confirmed after a leaked retail listing of the game became available.
That said, none of that will matter if the title lives up to the Wolfenstein series so far, and in particular since MachineGames took the helm on the franchise. It certainly seems as though Bethesda is happy with the project so far, since executive Pete Hines said he could not wait to show off the game earlier this year. Here’s hoping that the game is able to provide fans with an experience greater than its predecessor.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will be released on 27 October, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
