In a series that flips the script on American history, presenting an alternate reality where the States lost the Second World War, it's only natural that blood, violence, and viscera are at the forefront. Fittingly, the launch trailer for the franchise's upcoming title, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, is just that: a gloriously gory spectacle.

Bethesda released the footage today, just ahead of the official launch of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus in a little over a week. The footage is positioned in a recruitment advertisement type of framework, with Grace Walker, the leader of the Manhattan-based Black Revolutionary Front, encouraging players to join the resistance and win back control of the country from the Nazis.

As with previous promotional stills and videos for the impending sequel, the launch trailer isn't afraid to affirm that the game is about murdering Nazis and exploring the effects the Nazi occupation has had on the nation. The camera pans over standard human Nazis, Nazis in mech suits, and even a fire-breathing robot dinosaur Nazi, with B.J. Blazkowicz at the heart of the action, tearing up the occupying collective. Over three dozen Nazis bite the dust in the new trailer, getting killed by everything from grenades to vaporization to shotguns fired at point-blank range.

The clip also highlights a major enemy players may face off against: Adolf Hitler. The former leader of the Nazi party and head of Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s is shown in a brief moment at the tail end of the trailer. Viewers watch as he enters a room, coughing loudly as others stand to greet him. Previous Wolfenstein games have often referenced Hitler, and he even appeared in a weird boss fight in Wolfenstein 3D, but he hasn't shown up on screen in franchises's newer releases. Here, he's depicted as quite old, possibly on the verge of death given his cough, but very much alive - a sign that he could be a target in Wolfenstein 2.

Based on this launch trailer, the brutal NSFW gameplay trailer, and the 20 minutes of footage fans were treated to last month, it's evident that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will deliver much of what players were holding out hope for, like plenty of fast-paced action, crystal-clear graphics, and a Nazi-killing good time when it launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next month, and when it launches on the Nintendo Switch next year.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus releases on October 27, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will release sometime in 2018 for the Switch.
