The action-RPG features a narrative set in the Later Han Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms, adapting one of the most famous moments in Chinese history. In the role of a nameless militia soldier, the player must confront a conspiracy that surrounds a mysterious elixir, and face powerful enemies. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty features notable figures from Chinese history such as Lu Bu and Liu Bei and the presence of divine beasts inspired by the country's mythology.
But despite all the hype, the release of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has been plagued by bugs that are hindering players. On Wo Long's official Twitter profile, the developers apologized for the problems the bugs are causing and revealed that they are preparing a patch to be released soon. The patch will fix several issues, including camera operation when using a mouse. In the tweet comments players reported problems besides bugs, such as performance issues, crashes, and difficulties playing Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on PC.
The bumpy launch of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is also being reflected in negative feedback on other websites. Although Wo Long is one of the most exciting soulslike games coming in 2023, Team Ninja's title page on Steam has a "mostly negative" review score, with only 34% of users rating the game positively. On the Microsoft Store in countries like the U.S. and Brazil, the game has respectively a score of 3 and 3.1. On the Microsoft Store in France and Italy, the game is rated 2.4 and 2.5 respectively. Despite the negative feedback from players, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has an 84% recommendation on OpenCritic.
It is not uncommon for games to launch plagued by problems such as bugs and glitches, although it is a far from ideal situation. Since the developers promptly recognized the problems and are preparing fixes, players hope to finally be able to properly enjoy all that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has to offer.
