The morale system is not a unique one to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. It has been used in games such as Shadow of Mordor and other games in the Soulslike genre. Even though this might not be new, the way it is leveled and stays high can indeed be a first-time scenario for gaming veterans.
Once players understand the general morality and fortitude systems, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty can become a much easier game. Players with a favorite build will want to take advantage of this so that their particular playstyle stays relevant regardless of the difficulty of the foe they may face.
Morality
- Increases damage dealt.
- Decreases damage taken.
Simply, a higher morality will increase damage done and reduce damage taken. This number starts a zero in a mission, which is one reason why the first minion can often have a higher kill count than the final boss. An ideal early-game build can help bridge this gap.
There is a cap of 25. Players likely won't hit this amount in one run. Those who want the most ideal situation against the final boss will want to save the game, then kill the previous opponents again until hitting this number. Embedded gems can help increase the morality received as well.
Keep in mind morality works for the enemies too. The higher their morality number is, the more damage they deal and the less damage they will take.
Fortitude
- The minimum morality the character can have on a battleground.
Fortitude represents the minimum amount of morality the player can have. Upon dying, players will return to their fortitude number. This number is increased based on Battle Flags and Marking flags. While completionists will try to get all of these flags, it's a good idea for every character who might die.
For example, those who have collected all of the flags on the Two Chivalrous Heroes mission will find that their death takes them no lower than a morality of twenty because this is what their fortitude number is.
