Divine Beasts are the equivalent of an ultimate ability in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. When a fight appears to be unbeatable, just one use of these creatures can completely change the fortunes of battle. They also confer passive benefits onto their wielders.

But players don't start out with one and don't seem to be able to choose new ones. Well into the game, many players are still confused about how to unlock Divine Beasts and how best to use them in the toughest fights Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has to offer.

Unlocking Divine Beasts

Divine Beasts are automatically unlocked at various points in the story. Most of them are unlocked after beating a boss, however, the very first one is unlocked during the final boss fight in part one. Use it against General Zhang Liang to win the fight.

After this, they are unlocked by progressing through the main story and cannot be missed, so players working on the campaign will ultimately end up with all of them when they win. Guarding and parrying are useful tools that can build up the meter, but the Divine Beast itself can be a killer against the right boss.

Using Divine Beasts

  • Summon: B+Y or Circle+Triangle
  • Resonation: X+Y or Square+Triangle

Technically, players use Divine Beasts even if they never cast the move that unleashes their power. Each one has passive benefits similar to the five virtues of varying importance. After unlocking one, it's wise to check the new one out at a Battle Flag location.

Go to 'Battle Preparation' and read up on three things. First, there are the passive benefits of each one. Next, see what the Divine Beast does when summoned. Finally, learn what the Divine Beast's Resonation ability does. These will vary between all of them, but, generally speaking, all summoned Divine Beasts will attack and provide a benefit and all Resonation abilities will provide a strong buff.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
