One reason to play Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty in co-op mode is in part due to the ease of the game afterward. Using primarily ranged weapons or spells is absurd to try to do in single-player as monsters will run right up to the player, preventing them from meaningful ranged combat.
But making the game easier isn't the only reason. It's fun to experience Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty with a friend or even a random stranger looking for a group. Tackling challenges from multiple angles adds an entertainment element for gamers to share. To make this happen, players do have to clear some hurdles before jumping into co-op play.
Beat Part One
To participate in co-op, players will have to defeat General Zhang Liang, the final boss in part one. It doesn't have to be perfect or pretty, it just has to happen somehow. Practice dodging and parrying attacks against him as this formula will be what is used from start to finish.
With a great early-game build, it should be possible to take him down solo. This has to be done because the option to join online matches does not appear until part two. It can be done at the start of part two, even at the very first resting spot, but not until then.
Get At Least One Tiger Seal
Players who want to participate in a co-op game will have to pay with a Tiger Seal. This is a currency that can be found on the ground by looting them from treasures or various bodies. Odds are good of finding at least one in the first few sections.
The only guaranteed way of getting Tiger Seals is by killing an enemy to avenge a fallen target. Look for areas with purple grave markers. Beating the Changgui in part one will basically guarantee at least once since this enemy tends to kill everyone that first runs into it.
Starting/Joining A Co-Op Game
To start or join a co-op game:
- Rest at a battle flag
- Select 'Online Lobby'
- Select 'Co-Op'
- Type in a unique six-digit code
- Have the friend type in the same six-digit code
- Select 'Recruit Allies'
- Select 'Co-Op Start'
It must be noted that the 'Recruit' button instead of the 'Co-Op' button at step three will hire a random person. This guide deals with playing with friends, but playing with random others is just as easy. Even random players are better than NPC allies so long as they have their virtues appropriately leveled.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
