The Witcher 3 has cemented its reputation as one of the greatest video games ever made — a notion that has definitely become even more widespread than before with the release of the Netflix series that boosted the popularity of the franchise as a whole. The title is the closest any AAA game has probably come to perfection, with everything from the story to the combat excelling in every way, shape, and form.

One especially notable aspect of the game that has received widespread praise from numerous outlets is the characters of The Witcher and how they've become some of the most endearing aspects of the series. This list will focus on two of these characters — namely, Geralt and Triss — and the dynamic they share.

While the love story between these two characters has lasted throughout the trilogy to become one of the most memorable aspects of the series, there are certain moments when one person has not really treated the other nicely. Here's a deeper look into five times when Geralt was horrible to Triss, along with five times when Triss was the guilty party in this situation.

10 GERALT'S TRANSGRESSION: He's Always Taken Triss For Granted

This might sound surprising, given the fact that Triss is a focal point of Geralt's relationships in all three games. However, two of these three games have different options as love interests, meaning that Geralt could just ignore Triss' advances if he wanted.

Of course, the fact that Geralt has a tendency to sleep around should be proof enough of his callous nature.

9 TRISS' TRANSGRESSION: She's Seduced Geralt Before... By Brainwashing Him

Triss doesn't have that big of a role in the books, which makes it somewhat surprising that she ended up being such a major character over the course of the games.

In the books, she has managed to initiate a brief relationship with Geralt. However, the manner in which Triss seduced Geralt is somewhat suspect, with the sorceress apparently using magic to help make her amorosity more acceptable.

8 GERALT'S TRANSGRESSION: Constantly Rejected Triss Before The Events Of The Games

Without the use of this magic, it's very much possible that Geralt would've never even have looked twice at Triss in the comics.

It was clear that the witcher never harbored any strong feelings for Triss, and always ignored her advances for the most part.

While we understand the concept of choice, one can't help but feel that Geralt is just a tad bit too dismissive when it comes to Triss in the books.

7 TRISS' TRANSGRESSION: Trying To Make Geralt Feel Guilty For Hunting Philippa Eilhart

Philippa Eilhart was at the heart of a major conspiracy in The Witcher 2, which would've led to the outbreak of a massive war and the death of Geralt. Triss used her influence in the Lodge Of Sorceresses to bring Philippa's crimes to light and prevent these transgressions from occurring.

This makes it somewhat hypocritical that Triss would be so concerned about Geralt hunting down Philippa. It's understandable that Triss didn't want her lover to take part in a witch hunt... but c'mon — this is Philippa, after all.

6 GERALT'S TRANSGRESSION: Ignoring Triss' Cries Of Pain

This is obviously the player's choice, but it's still somewhat disturbing to imagine someone like Geralt completely ignoring the desperate cries of help from Triss as she gets brutally tortured by the witch hunters.

The entire situation is an elaborate ruse, with the original plan being that Geralt would "hand over" a captured Triss, talk to the leader of the witch hunters, Menge, and figure out where Dandelion is imprisoned. However, the means to this end is simply way too brutal, and only the most heartless players will be able to throw Triss to the wolves.

5 TRISS' TRANSGRESSION: Never Mentioning Ciri's Name

With Triss being one of Geralt's few connections to his past life, you'd think the sorceress would do everything in her power to remind Geralt of his previous life.

However, Triss does nothing of the sort, preferring her bedroom sessions over revealing critical information — a common theme when it comes to her relationship with Geralt.

4 GERALT'S TRANSGRESSION: Completely Disregarding Triss' Feelings For Him After Remembering Yennefer

The main reason why Triss was wary of bringing up Geralt's past was that she was afraid he would leave her and go back to the people that matter to him... an assumption that turned out to be true.

The moment Geralt remembers his past life, he doesn't waste a single step and completely abandons poor Triss in his quest to seek out Yennefer and Ciri.

3 TRISS' TRANSGRESSION: Soiling Geralt's Memories Of Yennefer

While one can understand why Triss would be so wary of bringing back Geralt's memories, agreeing with her actions is a whole another thing altogether.

Triss knew about Geralt's infatuation for Yennefer and tried to replace the raven-haired sorceress with herself in Geralt's mind. The Continent might be a horrible place to reside in, but Triss sinks to the lowest of the low with these unjustifiable actions.

2 GERALT'S TRANSGRESSION: Triss Was A Means To A Physical End For Geralt

Geralt is a lot of things, and being a womanizer is definitely one of them. The game celebrates this attitude of the witcher... even though he's got women in his life who genuinely care for him.

It's almost like Geralt's bond with Triss was borne out of a physical dependency as opposed to an emotional one, which is pretty animalistic.

1 TRISS' TRANSGRESSION: Taking Advantage Of Geralt's Amnesia

However, regardless of how Geralt might've treated Triss, one simply can't deny the fact that the latter decided to take advantage of the witcher's amnesia and manipulate his feelings in the worst way imaginable.

It's a massive red flag that goes to show the sheer lengths Triss will go to get what she wants, regardless of the dubious morals behind the same.
