The Witcher 3 is undoubtedly one of the greatest games of all time, propelling CD Projekt Red to the level of stardom that they rightfully deserved and turning then into one of the biggest modern gaming powerhouses. The excellence of this title helped sow the seeds for a Netflix adaptation as well — albeit for the books. Regardless of the circumstances, the Netflix special helped propel the resurgence of The Witcher 3, allowing for both newcomers and fans to experience the climax of Geralt's tale once again.

Speaking of the protagonist, it must be said that Geralt is one of the most complex and multifaceted characters in gaming history. While his personality might seem somewhat muted at first glance, the Butcher of Blaviken has a commanding presence that shines through his interaction and general demeanor.

There are quite a few characters from other games who would take a liking to Geralt... although there are some that he might absolutely despise. Here are five characters who'd get along with the Witcher, coupled with five more whose guts Geralt would absolutely hate.

10 LIKE: Ellie (The Last Of Us)

Geralt has always show a penchant to care for lost souls, as seen in the fact that he took Ciri under his wing and taught her the tools of the trade to help her survive in the harsh land of the Continent.

Given the fact that the relationship between Joel and Ellie is so similar to that of Geralt and Ciri, it goes without saying that Geralt would definitely take a liking to this impressionable child. While it's debatable as to whether Geralt will like or hate Joel, we know one character from the game he would absolutely despise...

9 HATE: Marlene (The Last Of Us)

While Marlene's ultimate goal of securing a cure for the plague might've been understandable, the fact that she would go so far as to sacrifice Ellie's life to ensure the same was a bit too much for us — and Joel — to fathom.

Geralt would obviously not agree with the idea of sacrificing someone on the off-chance that a cure might be discovered, which is why he would also do the same thing Joel did and kill Marlene if she tried to hurt anyone close to him.

8 LIKE: Tifa (Final Fantasy VII)

Geralt's always had a soft spot for the ladies, and an even softer spot for the ladies who'd tug at his heartstrings. Given the fact that Tifa's a beautiful girl with a heart of gold, it's a given that Geralt would fall head-over-heels for this particular dame.

The fact that Tifa's strength would allow her to very much carry her own weight in battle is another aspect that would just make Geralt melt for such a seemingly perfect woman.

7 HATE: Claptrap (Borderlands)

If there's one thing that Geralt hates, it's people that talk way too much without any meaningful substance. The only exception to this is Dandelion, who annoyed Geralt to the point where he just got used to — and at times, enjoyed — the bard's presence.

However, a robot like Claptrap who doesn't know when to shut his trap — pun very much intended — would get on Geralt's nerves to no end, to the point where he might disembowel the robot to make him stop talking.

The Legend of Zelda Link

We've already established that Geralt would absolutely hate anyone that talks unnecessarily. So, by that logic, Geralt wouldn't mind someone who doesn't utter a single word. A lot of voiceless protagonists come to mind, but Link is very much the most iconic one of the lot.

Link also happens to be incredibly resourceful in the wild, which means that Geralt would be more than happy for this short adventurer to travel with him on the Continent.

5 HATE: Nathan Drake (Uncharted)

When one talks about talkative protagonists, Nathan Drake definitely comes to mind. This tomb raider isn't averse to talking his heart out and teasing the people travelling with him for his own amusement.

So, it's a foregone conclusion that Drake and Geralt would frequently clash heads if they're forced to travel together. While it's possible that Geralt might warm up to Drake's infectuous enthusiasm, their initial interactions are bound to be somewhat heated.

4 LIKE: JC Denton (Deus Ex)

More often than not, Geralt is concise, direct, and to the point when it comes to relaying information, carrying out plans, or anything else along the same lines. This personality trait is something that Geralt shares with another iconic video game character — JC Denton.

The fact of the matter is that JC Denton doesn't mince words and lets his actions speak for him — a character that Geralt of Rivia is bound to admire.

3 HATE: Wheatley (Portal 2)

Wheatley from Portal 2

The curse of the talkative character strikes again, this time in the form of Wheatley from Portal 2. This robot is everything that Geralt is bound to hate — chatty, snide, two-faced, and British.

Well, we're assuming that Geralt would hate the last part, but given the fact that British accents sound somewhat snooty, even the tone of Wheatley's voice might be enough to send Geralt into a full-blown rage!

2 LIKE: Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)

Rockstar is no stranger to creating memorable characters, with their latest game featuring what could arguably be one of the greatest protagonists in gaming history... perhaps triumphing Geralt himself!

Regardless of what your opinion may be regarding the better character, one can't deny that Geralt and Arthur would fit like two peas in a pod. We're assuming that this Arthur maintains a high level of Honor, although even a morally corrupt Arthur could bond with Geralt... albeit with a few strained meetings in the beginning.

1 HATE: Trevor Philips (Grand Theft Auto V)

If there's one thing that a monster slayer would like to avoid, it's a dose of craziness amongst humans. However, Trevor Philips is so freakin' crazy and unhinged that Geralt is bound to take an instant dislike towards him.

The fact that Trevor is also ridiculously outspoken means that both these characters are bound to get in each other's faces if they're forced to interact with each other for extended periods of time. For what it's worth, Trevor's insane persona and a penchant to figure out solutions from thin air means that we're putting our money on him in a fight against Geralt.
