With The Witcher season 1 being such a hit on Netflix, fans are eagerly anticipating the dark fantasy show's second season. The Witcher season 2 is expected to introduce more popular characters from the books, including Vesemir, who many want to see played by Mark Hamill. However, one fan has offered an alternative to Mark Hamill as Vesemir, and it's an idea that's getting a lot of love on Reddit.

Reddit user TheGreatScubdu has posted fan art that shows Danny DeVito as Vesemir in The Witcher. DeVito is likely too busy with film projects and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to commit to The Witcher season 2, but it's a fun idea nonetheless. At the time of this writing, the post is nearing 15,000 upvotes on Reddit alone.

This is far from the first time that fans have thrown their support behind a possible Danny DeVito casting. Back in 2016, there was a fan petition to have Danny DeVito voice Detective Pikachu in the film of the same name. The Detective Pikachu filmmakers even did a voice test to see how Pikachu would sound speaking with DeVito's voice, but the title role ultimately went to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.

It's unlikely that Danny DeVito will be cast as Vesemir in The Witcher season 2. However, Mark Hamill seems to stand a better shot at landing the role. Hamill has tweeted about the possibility multiple times (though noting that he has no idea what The Witcher is), and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has also commented on it. Casting for Vesemir hasn't happened yet, so there's still a chance that Hamill will play the role, but fans will just have to wait and see on that front.

Unfortunately, the wait to learn about who may play Vesemir in The Witcher season 2 may be a long one. The Witcher season 2 isn't coming to Netflix until 2021, and there's no indication when casting for new characters may be announced. However, the show has already done some pre-production work for the second season, including scouting trips to possible new Witcher season 2 filming locations, so maybe casting will be announced sooner than expected.

A lot of The Witcher season 2 is still unknown at this point, but one thing we do know is that it will have a less confusing timeline than season 1. If The Witcher season 2 is able to address other complaints about the first season, then the show could reach dizzying new heights when it returns to Netflix in 2021.

The Witcher is available to stream now, exclusively on Netflix.
