Netflix is surely making up for lost time building hype around The Witcher’s season two, and after a long period without sharing too many details about the series they’ve now given updates on what all of their main characters will look like whenever the show makes its scheduled return in 2021.

Of course, leading man Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia came first, with the long white-haired buffed witcher sporting a new, more rugged armor, but he’s not the only one getting new threads as things have changed a lot more for the ladies.

Writer Lauren S. Hissrich and The Witcher Twitter accounts shared pictures of their costume designs for Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), giving a clear outlook at just how much each character’s fate has changed over from season one, and not necessarily for the best.

Ciri, the crown princess of Cintra, is certainly looking less regal and more ready to start training with Geralt, as season two will take her out of her damsel in distress role and make the best out of the magical warrior potential that was hinted at during last season.

Meanwhile, Yennefer of Vengenberg’s luck has clearly taken a turn for the worse, as she can be seen beaten and chained, with the show’s Twitter account captioning the shots to highlight her actions in the first season’s finale. If she is indeed being held hostage by enemy forces, it’s likely the season’s plot will have Geralt hunt down the captors of his beloved sorceress.

The Witcher has been fully back on the set for production since mid-August and with its recent social media activity fans have a lot to look forward to, especially as the writers are freed from the multiple timelines that hindered the story's progression before. As Hissrich puts it, flashbacks and flash-forwards will still be thing, but they'll be done in a different manner, one hopefully less confusing for those foreign to Andrzej Sapkowski's books and CD Projekt Red's games.

The Witcher season two is coming to Netflix in 2021.
