Netflix's The Witcher series has been met with great praise from fans of the books and games alike, and with final episode of the first season having concluded late last year, fans are wondering what will be next for Geralt the Witcher. The last episode seems to hint that Geralt is taking Ciri to Kaer Morhen to begin her training, and fans of the books and games expect that two Witchers besides Geralt may well be introduced to the TV show's story now, Eskel and Lambert. Both characters play large roles in the books and games, so it seems very likely that they will make an appearance at Kaer Morhen.

For those unaware, Netflix's The Witcher adapts the stories of The Witcher book series, the precursors to the popular The Witcher video game series. Eskel and Lambert are both characters who can be found at Kaer Morhen in books and movies, and are both experienced Witchers like Geralt. Season 2 is set to arrive to Netflix next year in 2021, so there is plenty of time for speculation before concrete answers head to the screens of viewers, but it is a relatively safe bet to say these characters will be in the new season.

Who is Eskel in the Witcher?

Eskel is a Witcher of the School of the Wolf, just like Geralt. In fact, the two were close friends in their youth, growing up in the Witcher's keep, Kaer Morhen. He is thought to be relatively close to Geralt in terms of skill and experience, and the two hold each other in high regard. Despite this, Eskel never gained the same level of fame that Geralt did, but does not seem bothered by this and is still a respected and lethal Witcher. Like Geralt, he is skilled in both sword combat and magic, and some have even postulated that he is more magically adept than Geralt.

After arriving to Kaer Morhen with Ciri, Geralt relies on Eskel to help with Ciri's training. Although his influence doesn't extend too far beyond this in the plot of Blood of Elves (the next book which is expected to be adapted for season 2), it will still be interesting to get to witness Geralt's behavior around one he considers so close, and historically has had no problem laughing and joking with in other media. Hopefully, fans will even get to see the talented Eskel in action, perhaps fighting side by side with Geralt and eventually Ciri.

Who is Lambert in The Witcher?

Lambert, too, is a witcher of the School of the Wolf and a companion to both Geralt and Eskel. Lambert is particularly notable for his youth and is one of the youngest Witchers around. Lambert, like most Witchers, had no choice but to become one, but he deeply dislikes the role he was given. Known for being rather short-tempered and rude externally, Lambert is also very jealous of Geralt's fame and recognition. That said, Lambert has made clear several times that he still walks the path of the Witcher and would go to great length to protect his comrades.

Lambert also helped with Ciri's training, focusing more on the melee combat aspects of it, and should provide fans a chance to see how Geralt handles this young and inexperienced Witcher's attitude. He is particularly rude to Triss Merigold, believing she has not right to criticize the way that the Witchers of Kaer Morhen go about training Ciri.

It would be very satisfying to see more representation of Witchers than what has already been shown in the TV series. Geralt is definitely not the only Witcher, and many fans would be interested to see how the different interact with each other. If season 2 is in fact based on Blood of Elves, it seems unavoidable that more Witchers will be introduced to the Netflix TV series, but in truth only time will tell.

The Witcher series is available now on Netflix.
