After the successful release of season one of The Witcher on Netflix, season two sets out to bring even more characters from the books.

The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri in their journey through the first two books that take place before the main events of the main Witcher storyline. The series is one of Netflix's most popular shows that premiered December of 2019 and is based on the book series of the same name by the author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Sadly, production is delayed for season 2 of The Witcher due to stay-at-home measures, but work is still being done behind the scenes to bring the series to audiences when the orders end. One of which is the inclusion of some new original Witcher characters.

Some significant updates for season 2 of The Witcher are that the actor Joel Adrian has been cast to play a new Witcher character created for the series named Hemrik. Supposedly, his backstory is that he met Geralt in Kaer Morhen, a place that Geralt frequents regularly. Another new character called "Meena Coppercloth" will appear in the series played by Lesley Ewen.

Scarlett Maltman has also been cast in the series, but their character's name hasn't been revealed to the public. Other new characters to The Witcher series include Vernon Dobtcheff and Alina llin to play a pair of elves. Dobtcheff is the older of the two, and llin will be a native speaker of Romanian, but besides that, not much else is known about these two characters. It is believed that they were part of the scenes that were shot earlier this year at an Elven camp with Yennefer, Fringilla, and Filanandrel before production was shut down.

While a lot is being kept under wrap as production has to figure out how to navigate through these tricky times, they are still pushing to get new content out as soon as possible. While some may be fearful of characters that weren't in the original book, that doesn't necessarily automatically make them bad. Game of Thrones included new characters to the series as well, some of which brought a lot of depth to the show. There is still a considerable chance that the second season can turn out just as good as the first one, if not better.
