The live-action Witcher may still be a few months away, but since Geralt of Rivia isn't around Netflix is calling on Vesemir for now with a new batch of posters revealing the other characters who will join him when Nightmare of the Wolf premieres next week.

Although limited to just under one and a half hours of runtime, the animated Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will explore Vesemir’s origins, as well as some of the lore regarding Kaer Morhen’s past, before Geralt and Ciri head over there for the princess of Cintra to begin her training. Prior to this, Netflix had already revealed the full voice cast for the movie back when it showed the first full-length trailer.

All the posters shared by @NetflixGeeked feature the cast members in their vivid anime art style, paired along with some brief bios for each character that will come in handy for even for those more familiar with The Witcher's vast lore. That is because Nightmare of the Wolf will feature entirely original characters like Tetra Gilcrest, Lady Zerbst, and Deglan, who will claim Vesemir through the familiar law of surprise to transform him into a full-grown Witcher.

These images even include a preview of a young Vesemir before he underwent the lost transformation process that turns regular boys into superpowered monster-slaying warriors. It’s not all about the newcomers though, as the former elf king Filavandrel, who already ran into Geralt back in The Witcher's first season, will be present.

Nightmare of the Wolf already boasts impressive production values as not only is it being put out by the same studio behind The Legend of Korra, but it will also feature Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau Demayo’s creative writing in order to cast the same type of magic that made the live-action series such a hit for Netflix.

Among the most interesting aspects of Nightmare of the Wolf will be getting a firsthand look at the Witcher conversion process - which was lost to time due to Vesemir and few other Witchers not being familiar with those arts or the mutagens required to keep the factory going - and the fall of the Kaer Morhen keep from its glory days to the rundown place it becomes later. If Netflix's Witcher offerings aren't enough, there is also an upcoming next-gen Witcher upgrade hitting the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so it's a good time to toss a coin to your Witcher.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 23, 2021.
