People have been locked inside for a long time now, with nothing better to do than scroll through the internet, so what better way to get people fired up than a good old hot take? The latest big brain opinion on the web is coming from Netflix's own Twitter account, which decided to drop some spicy opinions on The Witcher in order to keep people talking about the Netflix show.

Netflix's version of The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher, which is basically a kind of super hunter that specializes in taking down monsters. Witchers undergo a series of mutations that make them stronger, faster, and more durable, which is also responsible for turning Geralt's hair completely white.

So when considering Geralt's abilities, and how he fights monsters, Netflix has this to say about everyone's favorite Witcher: "Geralt is a Cleric and not a Rogue. Change my mind." Presumably a reference to Dungeons and Dragons classes, the statement does make a lot of sense when one considers Geralt's abilities, though the differences between the settings mean there are no perfect one-to-one parallels.

A Rogue in Dungeons and Dragons can have various setups, but they are stereotypically a glass cannon kind of fighter, being a figure that specializes in doing high amounts of damage by sneaking up on opponents, but easily damaged themselves. They also don't have much magical ability, tending to rely on charisma or manipulation.

Clerics on the other hand are a sort of warrior priest, dedicated to a particular god. They rely on a combination of physical combat augmented by magical powers granted to them by their chosen deity. Geralt, though he does not have a patron god, is a very skilled swordsmen who augments his combat ability using alchemy and minor forms of magic called signs. While it's not a perfect mirror, it does make a lot more sense than the Rogue class overall.

Of course, there is plenty of debate going on in the replies as well, with some arguing that he would be better classified as a mixed class character. Whatever one thinks is the best classification for Geralt, it's certainly a fun debate to give everyone a little more time thinking about The Witcher in anticipation of season 2.

Season 2 of The Witcher is currently in production for Netflix.
